Some thoughts on finding the remains of ancient sites in Guyang County, Baotou City

Since last summer, I spent most of my leisure time looking for ancient sites and monuments in Guyang County, Baotou City, including ancient city sites, ancient Great Wall sites, ancient stone carving sites, revolutionary sites, modern Catholic church sites and some protected historical buildings. These add up to about a dozen places. Although there are not many places to go, there are still many historical sites that have not been to, but the road to exploration is not as simple as going outdoors to travel. First of all, this is completely different from traveling, because almost all the places I go are inaccessible, and I can't find them by navigation alone. Getting lost on the road, encountering rotten stone and mud roads and bad weather are all common. Many times, because of the interference of these external factors, my heart becomes more impatient and anxious, and finally I can't find my destination (for example, I totally rely on navigation on my way to visit the site of Li Er ditch field hospital in Shi Xia, Guyang County). As a result, I entered a valley in Wuchuan County, Hohhot, and the deeper I went, the weaker the signal was, the road surface fluctuated and the gravel was scattered, and I found that there was no hope. Therefore, through the previous search process, I also understand that a good attitude is the most important thing. Don't embarrass yourself. If you find it, you will find it. If you can't find it, you will have another chance to explore. The so-called haste makes waste. If you cling to the "thank you sir" you can find before you leave, most of the results will not only make you feel ashamed, but also make you feel depressed.

Mix himself is not a major in archaeology and history. He only loved history when he was a child, and he loved reading books, TV dramas and documentaries about history. The history and culture of my hometown and Baotou area were also learned and understood by some people who studied local history and culture by visiting ancient cities, ancient walls and ancient roads in previous years, as well as in their official WeChat account and later published books. From the beginning, I only knew that there was an ancient city of Maji in Baotou, but I didn't know anything about it except Qin Changcheng. Later, I gradually learned that Baotou has such a profound history and culture and many ancient sites scattered around, which made my thirst for knowledge more and more intense. Reading and watching some videos about local history only satisfied my desire to explore the history and culture of my hometown. In order to get a closer look and touch the historical events and historical sites that have happened on this land, I learned about the ancient sites and historical sites (national key, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region key, Baotou city key) listed as key cultural relics protection units in my hometown through frequent visits to Baotou Museum, so I decided to take a good look at these ancient sites in my spare time and post them online by taking photos and writing, so as to let more people who like this history know about them, thus enhancing the awareness of cultural relics protection.

The road of exploration is full of happiness, hardship, confusion and confusion, and so is the process of writing. At first, I just liked photography. I have taken many photos on different topics, but never involving words. Publishing photos only shows what I have taken, perhaps because I lacked story in my previous photography, so I made up for this deficiency in the process of looking for ancient sites later. I am a man of temperament. I want to share the experience of each visit and the harvest, happiness and pain, which makes it more important to show the photos taken. However, because my writing skills are really weak, I often don't know how to write and describe, and my mind suddenly goes blank. This makes me often visit an ancient site on the same day for more than a month, and all the pictures and texts are posted on the Internet. Another important point is that it involves the historical field. By searching for ancient sites, I only achieved the purpose of searching. In order to save time in the process (due to the limited rest time, I almost always look for several ancient sites in one day), I also take photos while walking, so I still stay on the surface of the ancient sites I visited, which makes me a fool and can only keep consulting the articles of the older generation of local historical and cultural researchers to learn more.

In terms of consulting historical documents, I would like to focus on the monument for the protection of cultural relics set up near ancient sites. Every expedition and visit, the monument to cultural relics protection is a must. This is a symbol of identity, representing the arrival of the destination, and the back of the monument is engraved with a brief description of the ancient ruins to show protection. A netizen asked me before, suggesting that when I upload my work, I upload the text photos on the back of the tablet directly, so that I can write again and let the readers know at a glance. Wouldn't it be better? But I don't agree with the other side's point of view, because this is not a simple matter of uploading photos. If it is perfunctory, I think readers will read and understand it more carefully by specifying the words on the back of the tablet in detail, and the same code word process will also give them a way to re-learn and deepen their impression. However, these contents alone cannot completely and completely explain the ancient sites. In order to have a deeper understanding, I often go to the library to look up literature and history materials, and also pay for it myself. I bought a lot of local historical materials before and after Taoshu, so that I can go back to consult and collect relevant historical materials and supplement more information after each visit to ancient sites.

I used to use the word "visit" all the time, but later it became more and more inappropriate, because I still didn't deeply understand the true meaning of the word, so I had to admit that I had achieved it, but what about visiting? No, but in the process of visiting, it is important to visit this process, which depends on taking the initiative to ask the old people in the village near the ancient ruins, but I didn't do so. First of all, the time relationship, and even the old people in the village may not know the story of the ancient site, even if they do, they all have their own rhetoric and different opinions, so even if different information is collected, it is difficult to judge which one is correct. Of course, I admit it.

I have a deep affection for Guyang, which stems from playing here under the guidance of adults when I was a child. I still remember the Guyang Hot Air Balloon Festival held here before, as well as the beautiful Chunkunshan scenic spot and the later successfully developed Maanshan scenic spot. Of course, the food in Guyang is also full of praise, such as delicious stewed mutton, special braised pork dishes, steaming fish and noodles, and delicious and refreshing mutton offal.

So far, one-third of the ancient sites and monuments in Guyang County have gone, and many of them have not started looking for them. Some of them are because of the surrounding terrain and other reasons, and I can't find them with my current ability. Of course, exploring the ancient sites in my hometown is only my hobby in my spare time. I don't want to eat this, and I don't want to work hard in real life. Being busy making money is serious. The search can only be done with enough rest time, so I believe in the future.

The future can be expected, and Baotou is now at a critical stage of rapid development. In addition to creating a first-class business environment, I believe that in terms of history and culture, Baotou will also create a historic city, so that these ancient sites and monuments that have survived to this day can be better protected and give play to the light that should belong to them.
