Cold and warm fronts in High School Geography

The difference between cold and warm fronts;

1, according to the classification basis: according to the strength of cold and warm air masses during the front movement. If the cold air mass in the front area is very strong, it is called a cold front, otherwise it is a warm front.

2. From the figure, it can be distinguished mainly from the following two aspects:

A. According to the moving direction of the cold air mass, if the moving direction of the cold air mass retreats, it means that the cold air mass is weaker than the warm air mass, so it can be judged as a warm front; If the cold air mass moves in the same direction as the warm air mass, it is judged as a cold front.

B according to the front symbol, the triangle symbol on the front is a cold front, and the semicircle symbol is a warm front.

Cold front transit weather: cold front: the weather is sunny, the temperature is high and the air pressure is low before transit; Rain, snow, strong wind and cooling during transportation; After crossing the border, the weather turned fine, the temperature dropped and the air pressure increased. Warm front: the weather is clear, the temperature is low and the air pressure is high before crossing the border; Multiple continuous precipitation during transit; After crossing the border, the weather turned fine and the temperature rose.

The air pressure drops.

Weather examples: Rainstorms in summer, strong winds in winter and spring, sandstorms in the north and cold waves are all caused by cold fronts.

The phenomenon of "a spring rain and a warmth" is caused by a warm front.
