What is the highest altitude in great basin?
Qaidam Basin is located in the northwest of Qinghai Province, China. It is 800 kilometers long from east to west and 350 kilometers wide from north to south. It covers an area of about 200,000 square kilometers. It is about 2,600 ~ 3,000 meters above sea level and is the highest basin in China. This is a plateau basin. The basin is high in the west and low in the east, wide in the west and narrow in the east. Surrounded by high mountains, Kunlun Mountain in the south, Qilian Mountain in the north, Altun Mountain in the northwest and Sun Moon Mountain in the east, it is a closed inland basin. It has a dry continental climate. Extremely low temperature is beneficial to the development of underground frozen soil. Melting in summer, water comes from the snow-capped mountains on the plateau, and floods and swamps cover a large area. The precipitation is scarce, the wind is strong, and the aeolian landform is widely developed. The water system is sparse, and there are as many as 40 short rivers, which are mainly replenished by melting water from alpine snow and ice. The vegetation is sparse, mainly composed of super-xerophytic and xerophytic shrubs and semi-shrubs, which are suitable for camel grazing. Topographic structure from the edge to the center, followed by Gobi, hills, plains, lakes. The surrounding piedmont plain (i.e. rocky desert) has a vast Gobi area with a width of more than 20 kilometers and a slope of 5 ~ 8. Scattered deserts are distributed, mostly mobile sand dunes, with a height of 5 ~ 10m and a maximum of 50m, which are compound sand dune chains. There are large salt lakes in the east. Qaidam means salt ze in Mongolian, mainly including Chaerhan Salt Lake, Chaka Salt Lake, Keke Salt Lake and Kunteyi Salt Lake. The average thickness of the salt layer is 4 ~ 8 meters, and the maximum thickness is 60 meters, which is rich in chemical elements such as salts. Mainly salt, boron, potassium, magnesium, lithium, rubidium, bromine, iodine, strontium, cesium, gypsum, mirabilite, trona and so on. And salt is more than 60 billion tons. The basin is rich in metals such as lead, zinc, chromium and manganese, as well as resources such as coal, oil and asbestos. The alluvial plains of rivers and lakes in the east and southeast are suitable for large agricultural land area, high agricultural output and developed animal husbandry. Known as the cornucopia.
Qaidam basin is located in the depths of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, surrounded by Altun Mountain, Qilian Mountain and Kunlun Mountain. There are more than 5,000 salt lakes in the crescent valley formed by mountains and plateaus with an average elevation of more than 4,000 meters, of which Qinghai Lake is the largest, with an area of 1.600 square kilometers. The Ya Dan landform in Qaidam Basin is world-famous, which is caused by weathering. The salt production and minerals in the basin are quite rich, so it is no wonder that people regard the Qaidam Basin as a "wealth basin". At the same time, he also belongs to the desert area where strong winds prevail. In the spring and autumn rainy season, strong winds prevailed and were blocked by Kunlun Mountain in the west. The strong wind changed the direction here, and the wind speed also dropped, so many pebbles and sand grains were deposited in this belt-shaped area. For the whole Qaidam basin, it is a desert scene. Its abdomen is deposited with gravel falling from eroded mountains, as well as gravel and sand brought by the wind.
The Qaidam Basin is bounded by Qilian Mountain in the northeast, Kunlun Mountain in the south and Altun Mountain in the northwest, with a basin area of 6.5438+0.2 million square kilometers. The original site of the Administration was in Lenghu Town, Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai Province, and 1992 was moved to Dunhuang, Gansu Province, and Huatugou crude oil production base was listed. Dunhuang Petroleum Base is located in seven town, about 7 miles southwest of Dunhuang City. Dunhuang base is 246 kilometers south of Lenghu Town, 557 kilometers southwest of Huatugou Town, 549 kilometers southeast of Golmud City, Qinghai Province, 35 kilometers north of Dunhuang Railway Station of Lan Xin Railway, 968 kilometers east of Lanzhou City and 0/226 kilometers west of Xining City, the capital of Qinghai Province. There are regular flights from Dunhuang Airport to Lanzhou, Xi and Beijing. Huatugou crude oil production base is located in the west of Qaidam Basin, 685 kilometers away from Dunhuang and 435 kilometers away from Golmud City (kilometers along Huatugou crude oil long-distance pipeline). Golmud Petrochemical Production Base is located in Golmud City, Qinghai Province, at the southern edge of Qaidam Basin and the northern foot of Kunlun Mountain. It is 783 kilometers away from Xining and 60 kilometers away from Lhasa1/KLOC-0 in Tibet. The Qinghai-Tibet Railway (Phase I Project) has been put into operation, with 847 kilometers from Xining to Golmud.
