Characteristics of weather radar

The structure of weather radar has the following characteristics: ① Logarithmic IF amplifier is used. It can make the output approximately proportional to the logarithm of the input signal intensity, so as to ensure that the echo intensity of clouds and precipitation with a wide range of changes can be displayed accordingly. ② Distance correction. Since the received power Pr is inversely proportional to the square of the distance R (see the weather radar equation), the echo intensities at different distances can be directly compared after the distance correction. ③ It has a video integrated processor (VIP). Because the echo signal of precipitation fluctuates randomly, it is necessary to divide the detection range into small areas and average the echo signal of each small area. Then according to the echo intensity, black and white, color and digital layered display are realized. (4) The radar for quantitative determination of precipitation has real-time radar parameter monitoring equipment. ⑤ Advanced weather radar has been controlled by electronic computer, which processes meteorological data, such as precipitation and airflow speed.
