Urban environment:

The present site of Keelung Cultural Center used to be a hill. During the Japanese colonial rule, there was a "guild hall" on the mountain, which was adjacent to today's municipal government building. After entering the era of the Republic of China, it was expanded into the "Zhongzheng Hall" and its position remained unchanged. Around1980s, the city government razed the mountain to the ground in order to build a cultural center building. Before the Japanese occupation, this area was called "horseshoe crab cave", and a considerable number of horseshoe crabs lived here. It is said that horseshoe crabs will climb out of the water and land when the weather changes. The east coast and west coast of Keelung Inner Harbor are densely covered with reefs, and the largest two are named "Taigong" and "Taimu" respectively to show their collocation. When the Japanese built the harbor, they blew up all these reefs and had a huge harbor.

There is a yacht on the pier in front of the railway station, which provides services for visiting Keelung Port. Here, you can also take a yacht out of the open sea to visit Keelung Island, overlooking the whole north coast from the open sea. In addition, there are also sea fishing boats in Waimushan and Ruifang Shenao fishing ports. They go out to sea at night and sail back at six o'clock the next morning, where they can fish all night or enjoy the night view of the sea.

Numerous battery groups are another special landscape in Keelung. The number of forts around Keelung Port ranks first in Taiwan Province. They were built during the Qing Dynasty to Japanese colonial rule. They are distributed on the hills around the port and have different layouts according to the defense strategies of the Qing Dynasty and the Japanese occupation era. These forts have been restored and opened to the public.

Miaokou Night Market:

The most famous scenic spot in Keelung City is Miaokou Night Market, which was named after the front of Di 'anji Palace (Zhang Kai Wang Sheng Temple) and may have existed since the Japanese colonial rule. It is one of the most famous night markets in Taiwan Province Province. Because Keelung is rich in seafood, and as an international port, the flow of human resources from all over the world brings various products to Keelung, thus creating a diversified and distinctive snack market.
