We were stopped by the fire inspection station at the intersection. I thought I would be able to pass once I registered, but the requirements here are strict. You need to register the ins and outs in detail with your ID card and pay one yuan to get a fire prevention pass. The fee is not much, but the registration content is relatively complicated.

While waiting for the certificate, we met an old man who had ridden thousands of miles alone. He said that his old age was actually similar to ours, except that his face, which had been baked into a dark brown color by ultraviolet rays, had a few more traces of time. But when you come into contact with his bright eyes, you can clearly feel that he is full of youthful vitality.

He rode alone from Xi'an for more than a month and now returned to Xi'an from Inner Mongolia via Beijing. We are moved and sigh. After taking photos with the old riders and saying goodbye to each other, we continued driving on the rugged roads in the Daxinganling forest area.

More than an hour later, we arrived at the Daxinganling forest area at the junction of Inner Mongolia and Heilongjiang Province.

A Mongolian-style square gate stands like a triumphal arch at the junction of the two provinces. On both sides of the gate are the forest fire prevention inspection stations of Inner Mongolia and Heilongjiang Province. Two houses, two railings, and two toilets are in separate formations and do not intersect with each other. We first registered in Inner Mongolia, then drove through the Arc de Triomphe, and then registered the same content in Heilongjiang before passing.

I looked up at the Arc de Triomphe. It was the Arc de Triomphe wearing a yellow helmet like Genghis Khan. The banner reads ‘The people of the forest areas of Inner Mongolia wish you a safe journey’, and the other side reads ‘Inner Mongolia Daxinganling Forest Management Bureau welcomes you’. It is obvious that the Arc de Triomphe must have been funded and built by Inner Mongolia. At the same time, I was also thinking that two checkpoints, two sets of facilities, and two sets of people were built just a few steps away. Repeated registration by passers-by is like going abroad. Why can’t resources be fully shared and procedures simplified? Later I thought that this might involve a very specific fire safety liability issue that we just didn't know about.

Entering the boundary of Heilongjiang Province, I found that this forest road belongs to Heilongjiang Province S219 Provincial Road, with a wide and flat white cement road.

Standing in front of the tall and green Scotch pine forest in Songyuan Park, I can’t imagine how they survived the overwhelming fire. There is a 56 Fire Memorial Hall in Mohe, but we did not visit it due to time constraints. After a quick lunch in the county seat, we continued north along the Mobei Highway to Arctic Village.

Mobei Highway is a first-class highway from Mohe to Beiji Village. It is more than 70 kilometers long, with a two-way four-lane speed limit of 80, and the road condition is good. It took us more than an hour to arrive at the entrance of the Arctic Village Scenic Area.

There is a border guard guard at the entrance of the scenic spot. Two handsome young border guards wearing armed police uniforms came to our car. After a standard military salute, they politely asked everyone to show their ID cards and use handheld devices for registration verification.

Then we bought tickets in the beautiful and tidy ticket hall and drove into the scenic spot (ticket to the scenic spot is 60 yuan, 50% for those over 60 years old, free for those over 70 years old) . The conductor said that self-driving cars are not allowed to enter the scenic spot during the peak tourist season and can only park outside and transfer to the scenic spot bus. We're glad now is the time.

Many young people even set up tents outside to watch the beautiful and holy Northern Lights.
