What causes pain on the outside of my right foot?
Dorsum of foot pain is a symptom, not an independent disease. There are many causes of dorsum of foot pain. Most of the causes are known, but there are still a few causes that are not yet clear. Common causes can be summarized into four categories: ① Caused by diseases of the spinal bones, joints and surrounding soft tissues. Such as local injuries, bleeding, edema, adhesions and muscle spasms caused by contusions and sprains. ② Caused by spinal cord and spinal nerve diseases. Such as low back pain caused by spinal cord tumors, myelitis, etc. ③ Caused by internal organ diseases. For example, infections and tumors of the uterus and its appendages can cause lumbosacral pain. Such patients are often accompanied by corresponding gynecological symptoms. ④ Caused by mental factors. For example, patients with hysteria may complain of back pain, but there are no objective signs, or the objective examination and subjective description cannot explain the disease based on physiological anatomy and pathological knowledge. This kind of low back pain is often a manifestation of hysteria.
Can patients with instep pain wear high heels?
In daily life, many people like to wear high heels, especially young women. The height of high heels is generally about 4 to 6 centimeters, or even higher. After wearing high heels, the height of the heel causes the body's center of gravity to increase accordingly. In order to stabilize the original balance lost due to the change in the body's center of gravity, the body's muscle tension, especially the waist and back muscle tension, will be readjusted to create a new balance state.
After a person wears high heels, the forward tilt of the pelvis increases, and the gravity line passes behind the pelvis, which increases the burden on the waist to support the weight. Subsequently, the extension increases, and if this continues for a long time, it will cause excessive contraction of the low back muscles. And low back pain occurs. For every 1 cm increase in heel height, the extension of the lumbar spine and the contraction of the lumbar back muscles will increase exponentially, and the chance of low back pain will increase.
It can be seen that it is inappropriate for patients with instep pain to wear high heels. In order to prevent low back pain, it is best not to wear high heels often. So is it better for patients with low back pain to wear flat shoes? In fact, flat shoes are not necessarily beneficial. It is more appropriate to choose a heel height of about 3 cm. Therefore, patients with low back pain may wish to change to a suitable pair of shoes, which may alleviate the low back pain.
Can "backward walking" treat chronic instep pain?
"Backward walking" means walking backwards continuously. Among people who exercise in the morning, we often You will see some people "walking back". Chronic low back pain is often caused by insufficient waist muscle strength, ligament strength, and poor lumbar spine stability. "Walk backwards" exercise can enhance the strength of the lower back muscles and enhance the stability and flexibility of the lumbar spine. When walking backwards, the waist muscles contract and relax rhythmically, which improves the blood circulation in the waist, increases the metabolism of the waist tissue, and plays a certain therapeutic role.
The "walk backwards" movement is simple and easy to learn. Middle-aged and elderly people can control the amount of activity according to their personal circumstances. Here are two specific methods for your reference:
(1) Akimbo Style: Preparatory position: stand upright, raise your chest and raise your head, put your hands on your hips, with your thumb behind you and the other 4 fingers in front. Press the "Shenshu" points on both sides of the waist with your thumbs. (This point is located 1.5 inches below the spinous process of the second lumbar vertebra). Action: When walking backwards, start with the left leg, lift the left leg as far back as possible, exit backward, and shift the body's center of gravity backward. Land on the sole of your left front foot first, then your whole foot on the ground, shift your weight to your left leg, then switch to your right leg, and walk backwards with your left and right legs alternately. Every time you take a step back, use the thumbs of both hands to massage the "Shenshu" point once.
(2) Arm swing pose: Preparatory posture: stand upright, raise your chest, raise your head, look straight, and let your arms droop naturally. Movement: The movement of the legs is the same as the akimbo posture. When walking backwards, the arms swing back and forth in conjunction with the movements of the legs.
"Backward walking" exercise can be performed once a day in the morning and evening for 20 minutes each time. Generally, it is advisable to take a short rest after each exercise and the fatigue will gradually disappear. The venue should be flat and barrier-free. When exercising, keep your chest as high as possible and lift your thighs as far back as possible.
Is cold weather related to low back pain?
Some people will experience low back pain or worsening of low back pain due to weather changes, and some patients’ low back pain symptoms will be as accurate as the weather forecast. Cold is A cause that causes and induces low back pain. Cold mainly causes low back pain in patients through changes in blood circulation such as vasoconstriction, ischemia, congestion, and edema in the lower back. Patients often experience low back pain due to staying in cold areas for a long time or sleeping on cold ground or in wind vents. Cold can cause muscle contraction, which affects body movements to a certain extent. In addition, in order to keep out the cold, you wear more clothes and your movements become inflexible. If you perform sharp waist movements, it is easy to cause waist injuries.
Will playing mahjong cause low back pain?
If you play mahjong for a long time, your back will be straight, and the intervertebral disc and interspinous ligament will be in a tense and stiff state for a long time, which will easily cause pain over time. Pain and stiffness in the lower back, unable to lie on the back or turn around. Moreover, sitting for long periods of time will cause the pelvis and sacroiliac joints to bear weight for a long time, resulting in lack of activity in the waist. Qi and blood will easily stagnate in the waist, resulting in qi stagnation and blood stasis, which will affect the blood circulation of the lower limbs and cause numbness in the legs. Over time, it can lead to muscle atrophy. In this case, the muscles become stiff and a slight movement may cause sprains or other injuries, leading to low back pain.
Is there a relationship between smoking and low back pain?
Many smokers are prone to low back pain. The reason is not yet clear. It may be that smoking causes chronic bronchitis, and when coughing It causes an increase in intravertebral disc pressure and spinal canal pressure. Injecting animals with nicotine can reduce the blood volume of the vertebral body, thus affecting the nutrition of the intervertebral disc and making the intervertebral disc prone to degeneration. This may be why smokers are more susceptible to back pain. In addition, smokers are prone to lung cancer, and lung cancer often metastasizes to the vertebral body. Due to tumors on the vertebral body, low back pain inevitably occurs, and gradually worsens, and in the end cannot be treated. It can be seen that smoking is related to low back pain. Smoking is harmful and does no good.
Is low back pain necessarily caused by lumbar disc herniation?
The lower waist mainly refers to the lumbar vertebrae, sacral vertebrae, bilateral sacroiliac joints and adjacent tissues, which can involve muscles, ligaments, fascia, posterior joints, lumbosacral joints or sacroiliac joints. Everyone has a history of low back pain to a greater or lesser extent. People often say they have lumbar disc herniation after experiencing low back pain. In fact, not all low back pain symptoms are caused by lumbar disc herniation.
There are many causes of low back pain, which can be roughly divided into the following categories:
(1) Congenital or developmental abnormalities of the lumbar spine: including congenital lumbar fusion and hemivertebral body Deformity, spina bifida occulta, sacralization of the lumbar spine, lumbar sacralization, isthmic nonunion or spondylolisthesis, scoliosis, hypertrophy of the transverse process of the third lumbar vertebra, free spinous process, too large or too small spinous process, uncinate spine protrusion, congenital lumbar spinal stenosis, etc.
(2) Lumbar degenerative changes: including lumbar hypertrophic spondylitis, senile osteoporosis, lumbar disc herniation, secondary lumbar spinal stenosis, pseudolumbar spondylolisthesis, and senile hunchback , lumbar degenerative osteoarthrosis, lower lumbar spine instability, etc.
(3) Lower waist inflammation: including low back fascial fibrositis, lumbar tuberculosis, sacroiliitis, ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, suppurative spondylitis, lumbar 3rd transverse arthritis Bursitis, lumbar discitis, etc.
(4) Lower waist injury: including acute lumbar sprain, lumbar muscle strain, lumbar ligament injury, lumbar fracture, dislocation, sacrococcygeal injury, sacroiliac joint sprain, etc.
(5) Lower waist tumors: including primary and secondary tumors ① Primary benign tumors: such as osteoid osteoma, bone cyst, osteoblastoma, osteochondroma, bone fibrosis dysplasia, etc. ② Primary tumors with a tendency of malignant lesions: such as chordoma, giant cell tumor of bone, osteoblastoma, etc. ③ Primary malignant tumors: such as malignant lymphoma, osteoblastoma, lumbosacral sarcoma, etc. ④ Malignant tumors such as breast cancer, prostate cancer, and uterine cancer can cause symptoms of low back pain if they metastasize to the lumbosacral region.
(6) Diseases of adjacent tissues: such as sciatica, piriformis syndrome, etc.; stones in the urinary system, pyelonephritis, perirenal abscess, etc.; peptic ulcers, chronic pancreatitis, etc. in the digestive system ; Obstetric and gynecological metritis, adnexitis, uterine prolapse, pelvic tumors, etc.; Retroperitoneal tumors eroding the spine can also cause low back pain.
(7) Functional defects: such as poor posture, pregnancy, flat feet, unequal length of lower limbs, insufficient waist and hip muscle strength, etc.
(8) Others: toxic diseases, such as skeletal fluorosis, etc.; nutritional diseases, such as osteomalacia, etc.; nervous system diseases, such as hysteria, etc.
What is the difference between low back pain caused by osteoporosis and low back pain caused by lumbar disc herniation?
Osteoporosis refers to the systemic reduction of bone quantity caused by various reasons, the increase of trabecular space, the reduction of bone matrix and weight, and the reduction of bone mechanical strength leading to non-traumatic fractures. Or a clinical syndrome in which fractures in certain parts can occur with slight external force.
The cause and pathogenesis of osteoporosis are not yet fully understood. At present, the more recognized causes of the disease mainly include the following aspects:
(1) Endocrine disorders: As we all know, this disease is more common in the elderly, especially in female patients after menopause. This shows that sex hormones are directly related to bone metabolism. Hyperadrenocortical function can cause osteoporosis, which is not only the main feature of Cushing's syndrome, but also the long-term use of adrenocortical hormones to patients in clinical treatment can also cause this consequence. This suggests that adrenocortical hormones can accelerate the process of osteoporosis. Sex hormones can inhibit anterior pituitary hormone and indirectly inhibit adrenocortical hormones. Therefore, the secretion of sex hormones in the elderly is reduced, especially in postmenopausal women, who are more likely to develop osteoporosis.
(2) Calcium metabolism disorder: There is no doubt that calcium deficiency is one of the causes of osteoporosis in adults. A normal person's daily calcium intake is about 10mg/kg body weight, a small amount of which is used by the body, and most of which is excreted with urine and stool to maintain calcium metabolism balance. If the intake of calcium is reduced, or there is intestinal absorption dysfunction, or the amount of calcium excreted in urine and feces is increased, it is easy to cause osteoporosis due to calcium deficiency. At this time, if the influence of endocrine disorders is added, it is more likely to cause osteoporosis.
(3) Disuse factors: Under normal circumstances, skeletal tissue is stimulated to maintain normal calcium metabolism balance due to muscle relaxation and contraction and various stresses and pressures. However, once the limbs or the whole body lose physiological activities, physical labor or exercise, it will easily cause a series of changes in the bone tissue, leading to decalcification and increased urinary calcium excretion, leading to osteoporosis.
People who are bedridden for a long time show systemic osteoporosis, while those who have limbs fixed with plaster splints or neurotic disuse show localized osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis is more common in the elderly, especially in women over 60 years old. Patients often complain of general fatigue and prefer to stay in bed or sit on their backs rather than move. They have soreness all over the body, especially in the waist, which can radiate from the waist to the buttocks and lower limbs, and from the back to the ribs and abdomen. The patient feels that his height is gradually getting shorter, which is not only due to intervertebral disc degeneration but also to the fact that vertebral osteoporosis can easily cause compression fractures. The same reason may cause the hunchback deformity to gradually worsen.
X-ray findings: spinal osteoporosis, reduced bone trabeculae, sunken middle of the vertebral body, fish-tail shape.
The degree of pain caused by osteoporosis is far less severe than that of lumbar disc herniation, and the X-ray manifestations are completely different. After treatment with sex hormones, high protein, and high calcium, the symptoms of low back pain can be alleviated.
What is referred low back pain? What internal diseases can cause low back pain?
Referred low back pain refers to a clinical symptom of low back pain that is not caused by the lumbar spine, but is caused by a disease of a certain internal organ. Since the cause of low back pain is not the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments and other spinal tissues of the spine, it is also called non-spinal low back pain. Specifically, visceral diseases that can cause low back pain symptoms include:
(1) Urinary system diseases: such as acute and chronic pyelonephritis, renal tumors, kidney stones, ureteral stones, renal tuberculosis, nephroptosis, perirenal Abscess, prostatitis, prostate tumor, etc.
(2) Digestive system diseases: such as peptic tract ulcers, chronic cholecystitis, gallstones, pancreatic cancer, rectal cancer, etc.
(3) Gynecological diseases: such as adnexitis, metritis, uterine retroversion, pelvic tumors, uterine prolapse, pelvic congestion, menstrual tension, etc.
(4) In addition, subdiaphragmatic abscesses, retroperitoneal tumors, etc. can also cause low back pain. Just like headaches, the cause of the headache is not necessarily located within the head. Some low back pain is just a symptom of a certain organ or systemic disease. There are two main reasons why visceral diseases cause low back pain: ① The lesions involve the waist or its adjacent tissues: When the lesions of visceral diseases involve the tissues surrounding the spine and posterior During peritonitis, pain may be felt in the waist, often accompanied by spasm of the lumbar and back muscles. For example, low back pain caused by retroperitoneal tumors, perirenal abscesses, etc. ② Reflexively cause low back pain through nerve fiber conduction: Due to the lesions of certain organs stimulating sensory nerve fibers, they are transmitted to the posterior root or a certain stage of the spinal cord, and the stimulation is transferred and spread to the spinal cord and nerve roots of this segment. It controls the skin, fascia and other tissues of the waist, causing waist pain.
For the treatment of referred low back pain, that is, non-spinal low back pain, symptomatic treatment should be given according to the cause of the disease. To be precise, the primary disease must be found first. On the basis of treating the primary disease, Chinese medicine, acupuncture, physical therapy, massage and other methods can be appropriately used to coordinate the treatment, and functional exercises of the lower back muscles can be carried out. These methods are all effective. .
What are the characteristics of low back pain caused by gynecological diseases?
Due to anatomical and physiological characteristics, women develop some female-specific diseases, such as metritis, adnexitis, uterine retroversion, uterine prolapse, pelvic tumors, etc. Women with these diseases often experience lower back pain. In addition, menstruation, pelvic congestion, menstrual tension, and pregnancy can all cause lower back pain. However, low back pain caused by gynecological diseases is not similar to low back pain caused by other reasons. It has the following characteristics:
(1) The location of pain caused by gynecological diseases is relatively localized, usually in the lumbosacral region. Lower extremity symptoms are rare.
(2) The nature of pain caused by gynecological diseases is generally swelling, dull pain, soreness or dull pain, without obvious radiating pain.
(3) The symptoms of low back pain are closely related to the menstrual period or primary gynecological diseases. For example: women with retroverted uterus may experience low back pain during menstruation.
(4) In addition to low back pain symptoms, the main symptoms are gynecological symptoms, such as lower abdominal distension and pain, increased leucorrhea, dysmenorrhea, irregular menstruation, etc.
(5) The orthopedic examination showed no positive signs in the lumbosacral region, the tenderness was not obvious, the tender points were not localized, the straight leg raising test was negative, the percussion pain was not obvious, and there was comfort after percussion. Sensation; gynecological examination may reveal positive signs such as uterine retroversion and uterine prolapse.
(6) There may be imaging changes in B-ultrasound examinations of the pelvic area, uterus and appendages, but there are no positive signs in auxiliary examinations such as lumbosacral X-rays.
The reason why gynecological diseases can cause low back pain is that the nerves of the uterus and appendages come from the pelvic nerves of the hypogastric and ovarian sympathetic plexus and parasympathetic nerves. These nerves originate from the 2nd to 4th sacrum. Nerves, when lesions involve these nerves, can reflexively cause low back pain symptoms.
What is the difference between low back pain caused by visceral diseases and other low back pains?
Although generally speaking they are both low back pain, there are certain differences between low back pain caused by organ diseases in the abdominal and pelvic cavity and low back pain caused by diseases of the lumbar spine itself. The differences are as follows:
(1) The nature of low back pain caused by visceral diseases is mostly referred pain: the lesions of this kind of low back pain are not in the spine, so the activities of the spine are not affected. During physical examination, the patient's waist mobility was found to be good.
What proportion of referred low back pain accounts for all low back pain patients? There are no statistics on this yet, but there are many patients suffering from this kind of low back pain.
(2) Low back pain caused by visceral diseases is mostly secondary: it mainly manifests in the front of the trunk, is generally secondary, and is far less severe than abdominal pain. Although in rare cases some visceral disorders cause lower back pain first, severe abdominal pain may follow and become more severe.
(3) Low back pain caused by visceral diseases is generally not the only symptom: in addition to low back pain symptoms, there are usually other clinical manifestations of visceral diseases. For example: patients with renal tuberculosis may have low-grade fever, night sweats, weight loss, etc.; patients with pancreatic tumors may have cachexia symptoms such as loss of appetite and weight loss; episodes of low back pain from peptic tract ulcers are often related to diet.
(4) There are no positive signs in the orthopedic examination of the lower waist, such as the tender points are not concentrated, the tenderness is not obvious, and the straight leg raising test is negative, etc. The diseased organs themselves may have positive signs.
(5) There may be no obvious changes in the imaging examination of the lumbar spine. For low back pain caused by visceral diseases, the organs themselves may have positive results, such as ureteral stones, stone shadows can be seen on plain X-ray films or contrast films, and pancreas Cancer CT or MRI can show the size of the tumor, etc.
What are the different types of low back pain among different groups of people?
The incidence of low back pain is very high, and there are many diseases that cause low back pain. However, the types of diseases that cause low back pain are different for different groups of people.
(1) Different age groups cause different types of low back pain diseases.
The common causes of low back pain in children or adolescents are mainly congenital deformities, such as spina bifida, transitional vertebrae, etc.; postural diseases, such as lumbar scoliosis, etc.; inflammatory diseases, Such as lumbar tuberculosis, etc.
The common causes of low back pain in young adults are mainly traumatic diseases, such as lumbar muscle strain, lumbar sprain, lumbar disc herniation, lumbar compression fracture, etc. In addition, immune system diseases, such as ankylosing spondylitis, are also common causes of low back pain in young adults.
The common causes of low back pain in middle-aged and elderly people are mainly degenerative changes, such as lumbar hyperplastic spondylitis, lumbar spinal stenosis, osteoporosis, etc. Secondly, they may be various tumors of the lumbosacral region. .
(2) Different genders cause different types of low back pain diseases.
Men generally have a greater amount of waist activity in daily life and work. When the load is excessive, improper posture, lack of protection, etc., it may cause damage to the lumbosacral soft tissue, bones and joints. Therefore, Lower back pain in men is mainly caused by injury.
Due to anatomical and physiological characteristics, women develop some female-specific diseases, such as metritis, adnexitis, uterine retroversion, uterine prolapse, pelvic tumors, etc. These diseases can cause low back pain. In addition, menstrual period can cause low back pain; during pregnancy, the increased load on the lumbar spine can cause low back pain; after childbirth, endocrine changes can cause joint capsules and ligaments to relax, which can also cause low back pain.
(3) Different occupations cause different types of low back pain diseases.
Manual workers, especially heavy manual workers, athletes, etc., are mainly caused by traumatic diseases; long-term workers in air-conditioned, humid, and cold environments are susceptible to low back tendon disease. Membranous fibrous tissue inflammation; due to lack of exercise, mental workers have weak back muscles and are prone to lumbar muscle strain and lumbar sprain.
It can be seen that different groups of people have different types of low back pain diseases
