The origin of Changshu

As early as more than 5,000 years ago, human beings lived in this fertile land of Changshu.

During the Xia and Shang Dynasties, Changshu was the territory of Yangzhou. At the end of Shang Dynasty (1 1 century BC), Tai Bo and Zhong Yong, the sons of Zhou Taigong and Zhou Taiwang's aunts, sent the kingdom to the south and established the ancient kingdom of Wu. After the destruction of the King of Wu (84 BC1), Zhang Zhou, the great grandson of Zhong Yong, was made King of Wu, and Changshu was the northern territory of Wu.

At the end of the Eastern Zhou and Yuan Dynasties, Wang Wunian (47 BC1), Wu Mi, returned to Yue in Changshu. In the thirty-sixth year of Wang Xian (333 BC), Yue was destroyed by Chu, and Changshu was returned to Chu.

Qin unified China and implemented the county system. Changshu once belonged to Wuxian and Huiji counties.

Yu Township was first established in Changshu in Yuan Dynasty (BC 156-BC 150), and it still belongs to Wu County of Huiji County. In the fourth year of Yongjian in the Eastern Han Dynasty (129), there was another Wuxian in Huiji County, western Zhejiang Province, and Yuxiang was placed under Wuxian. At that time, Nansha Township was added in Changshu, and Du Yan's headquarters was located in this township, which created a precedent for the official organizational system in Changshu's regional history.

During the period of the Three Kingdoms, Yuxiang and Nansha belonged to Wu State and Wu County.

In the fourth year of Taikang in the Western Jin Dynasty (283), Yuxiang was promoted to Yuhai County (named after the county was near the sea to the east) and moved to Wu Jun, which was the beginning of the establishment of Changshu County. In the early years of Yuan Emperor in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (3 17), overseas Chinese in the north of the county set up Tanxian County, yi county County and Licheng County as Southeast Donghai County. In the seventh year of Xiankang in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (34 1), Nansha Township was promoted to Nansha County. At that time, Changshu had two counties, Yuhai and Nansha.

In the Northern and Southern Dynasties, in the first year of Yongtai in the Southern Qi Dynasty (498), Haiyang County was established on the northern border of Haixian County and was assigned to Jinling County. In the sixth year of Liang Datong (540), Changshu County was located in Nansha, and Nansha City (namely Fushan) was located in this county, which was the beginning of the name of Changshu County. The name of Changshu means "the soil is rich and fertile, and there is no flood and drought at the age of twenty", "the native land is different. Although floods and droughts are not disasters, they are always the same. "

During the reign of Emperor Kai of Sui Dynasty (58 1-600), five counties, namely, Xingguo, Haiyang, Xinyi, were merged into Changshu County and placed under Suzhou.

In the seventh year of Tang Wude (624), Changshu County moved to Yushan Town, now Yuhai City, and was transferred to Wu Jun.

In Song Dynasty, Changshu belonged to Pingjiang County.

During Zhenyuan period of Yuan Dynasty (1295), Changshu County was promoted to Changshu House and transferred to Pingjiang Road.

In the second year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1369), it was reduced to a county and transferred to Suzhou.

In the fourth year of Yongzheng in Qing Dynasty (1726), Zhaowen County was located in the east of Changshu County, where two counties ruled one city. In the tenth year of Xianfeng (1860), the Taiping Army captured Changshu and Zhaowen, both of which belonged to Sufu Province. In the first year of Tongzhi (1862), the Taiping Army retreated and the two counties stayed in Suzhou.

19 1 1 The Revolution of 1911 broke out and Changshu and Zhaowen counties merged into Changshu County.

1April 27, 949, Changshu was liberated. In May of the same year, Changshu City was established as the county seat, and the county and city offices were co-located. 195 1 year Changshu was assigned to Suzhou District, Sunan Administrative Region. In June, 1954, 1 1, Changshu was promoted to a municipality directly under the Central Government of Jiangsu Province. 1958 Changshu withdrew from the market and remained unified as Changshu County. 1In March, 983, the county was withdrawn to establish the city, and Changshu City was located in the county.
