Autumn Wind Ci

Li Bai

The autumn wind is clear, the autumn moon is bright, the fallen leaves gather and disperse, and the jackdaws are frightened. We know the day when we meet each other, but it is hard to be in love at this time and this night. When you enter the door of my lovesickness, you know that my lovesickness is painful. The long love is long and the long memories are long, and the short love is endless. If I had known that it would be such a thorn in the heart, why would I not have known each other in the first place.

Notes

Translation] The autumn wind is so desolate, the autumn moon is so bright, the fallen leaves are gathering and falling apart, even the crows perched on the trees are frightened. Thinking about the day when we reunited with each other dearly, and now when we are separated, when will we meet again? In this autumn night, thinking about it, it is really embarrassing; walking into the door of lovesickness, I know the pain of lovesickness, eternal lovesickness, eternal memories, short-lived lovesickness. But there is no end. If I had known that lovesickness would be so entangled in my heart, it would be better not to know each other in the first place.

The following is my personal understanding of this poem

On a late autumn night, the poet saw the bright moon hanging high in the sky and the jackdaws perched on the trees that had lost their leaves. Perhaps at this time the poet is missing an old lover. This situation cannot help but make the poet sad and helpless___The inseparable love and longing that exists in the bottom of his heart make the poet regret his original acquaintance

This poem is a typical piece of sad autumn. The autumn wind, autumn moon and fallen leaves, jackdaws, set off the sad atmosphere. Together with the poet's wonderful imagination and the perfect portrayal of his own heart, the whole poem is sad and moving

Listen Shu monk Jun played the piano

Li Bai

Shu monk hugged the green silk and went west to Mount Emei.

Waving your hand for me is like listening to thousands of pines.

The guest's heart is washed by the running water, and the remaining sound is the frost bell.

Unconsciously, it is dusk in the green mountains and the autumn clouds are dark.

Notes

1. Green Qi: the name of the piano. "Preface to Qin Fu" by Fu Xuan of Jin Dynasty: "Sima Xiangru has green qi." Xiangru is from Shu, and the player who plays it is a Shu monk, so he cuts it with green qi.

2. 1: Particles that strengthen the tone.

3. Wave your hands: play the piano with your fingers.

4. Flowing Water: It is said that during the Spring and Autumn Period, one could hear the meaning of the music played by Boya's harp. Sometimes his ambition was high mountains, sometimes his ambition was flowing water. Boya was promised to be a close friend. See "Liezi Tang Wen Chapter". This sentence means that the feelings of the guests are washed away after listening to the meaning of the song "Mountains and Flowing Waters".

5. Frost bell: refers to the sound of a bell. "The Classic of Mountains and Seas" states: "There are nine kinds of frost in Fengshan, which is the sound of frost." Guo Pu's note: "When frost falls, the bells will ring, so it is known." Entering the frost bell: the lingering sound communicates with the bell, and is also a metaphor for entering the ears of the person who knows the sound.

Rhyme

A Sichuan monk plays the famous Qin Luqi.

He is from Emei Peak in Bashu.

He waved his hand and played a famous song for me.

It was like hearing the majestic wind of pines and waves in thousands of valleys.

The tones of mountains and flowing water wash away your feelings,

The lingering sound blends into the autumn frost bell.

Unknowingly, the green hills have been covered with twilight,

Autumn has gone and it seems to have become darker!

Commentary Analysis This poem is about listening to a monk from Shu playing the harp, and is extremely fascinated by the sound of the harp. The first two sentences say that he comes from his hometown of Sichuan, expressing his admiration for him. The couplet written about playing the piano compares it with the sound of pines and waves in nature, which makes people feel that the sound of the piano is extraordinary.

The sound of the piano in the neck couplet cleanses the mind, makes people relaxed and happy, and has endless aftertaste. The last couplet is written about listening to the piano with concentration, without knowing

The time is running out, which reflects the wonderful and attractive performance of playing the piano. The whole poem is written in one breath, with momentum like flowing clouds and flowing water, bright and smooth.

Resentment

Li Bai

The beauty rolled up the bead curtain and sat deep with frowning eyebrows.

But when I see wet tears, I don’t know who I hate.

Notes

1. Deep sitting sentences: write about the expression of disappointment.

Frown: frown.

Yunyi

The beauty rolled up the bead curtain and waited,

she kept sitting with her eyebrows tightly closed.

I only saw her cheeks wet with tears.

I don’t know whether she hates others or herself.

Commentary Analysis This is a poem about the resentment of an abandoned wife. If we say it has some sustenance, that's fine. The poem uses concise language to depict the resentful mood of the boudoir

. Focus on writing the word "resentment". "Resentment" leads to sitting and waiting, "resentment" leads to frowning, "resentment" leads to tears

Tears, "resentment" leads to hatred, and the theme is deepened layer by layer. As for whom to blame? Who do you hate? The author has laid out infinite space, and people can interpret the poem by themselves.

Jade steps resentment

Li Bai

The jade steps produce white dew, which invades the stockings all night long.

But under the crystal curtain, look at the autumn moon exquisitely.

Notes

1. Luo socks: socks made of silk fabrics.

2. But give up: return the offer.

3. Exquisite sentence: Even though the curtains are drawn, I still look at the moon and cannot fall asleep.

Rhyme

White dew has grown on the jade steps,

Standing late at night, the dew has soaked my stockings.

I had no choice but to enter the room and lower the crystal curtain,

looking up at the delicate autumn moon alone across the curtain.

Commentary and Analysis Yuefu's "Jade Level Resentment" contains many songs about the resentment of imprisoned palace ladies. Although the title of the poem is "resentment", it does not reveal the word "resentment".

The first two sentences are about the independent jade steps, and the exposure is intruding into the stockings. It is thicker late at night, and the long wait has been in vain. The resentment is as deep as a note

as a complaint; the last two sentences are about being helpless, entering the room, hanging the curtains, and looking at the moon through the window. , the more lonely it becomes. Nothing more? No complaints? The poem is not painted on the front, but painted on the back. It has fewer words but more emotions, euphemistic and subtle, and the lingering sound lingers like a wisp.

Written by a guest

Li Bai

Lanling's fine wine is filled with tulips, and the jade bowl contains amber light.

But the host can make the guests drunk, and they don’t know where they are in a foreign country.

Notes

Lanling: in today's Zaozhuang, Shandong.

Tulip: a kind of herb. The ancients used it to soak wine, and the wine turned golden after soaking.

Amber: a kind of resin fossil, yellow or russet in color, crystal clear in color. The wine here is described as having the color of amber.

Lanling's fine wine exudes the rich aroma of tulip, and is served in a crystal jade bowl, shining like amber. The host solicits wine diligently, and the guests enjoy themselves drunkenly, forgetting that they are guests in a foreign land.

Rhyme

After Li Bai's trip to Chang'an in the early days of Tianbao, he moved to Donglu. This poem was written in Lanling, Donglu, with Lanling as the "guest", which can be seen as a work during the Kaiyuan period. In a prosperous social background, Li Bai valued friendship, was fond of fine wine, and loved traveling to the mountains and rivers of his motherland, all of which were filled with beauty in his heart. This poem expresses Li Bai's uninhibited personality and the prosperity of the Tang Dynasty.

This poem goes against the ancient poetry tradition of wanderers feeling homesick while traveling. It expresses the optimistic sentiment of being a guest but not realizing that you are in a foreign country.
