The compilation process of The Secret History of Xiaozhuang is very long. It took three years from writing the first script to the final shooting.

In the late 1990s, Yang, the screenwriter of The Secret History of Xiaozhuang, wrote the original script. Liu Dekai liked it very much after reading it. Plus, after going to Dongling, he also had different feelings for Xiaozhuang himself. As soon as he got the book, he decided to make the script into a movie.

But at that time, Liu Dekai was unfortunate.

When he planned to shoot The Secret History of Xiaozhuang, it happened to be the lowest years in the film and television drama market of Gulf. Investors have no money, and the audience gradually loses interest in local film and television dramas. The whole market atmosphere is very weak, and no investor is willing to spend money to shoot such a costume drama.

Although investors haven't been able to find them for a long time, Liu Dekai has chosen a hero and heroine-Wenjing and Ma Jingtao.

Because Liu Dekai and Ma Jingtao are both active in the Bay Area film and television circle, they usually have a good relationship. After talking to Ma Jingtao once, Ma Jingtao himself liked the book very much and has finalized it.

I didn't expect this change to be two years. Liu Dekai has never found an investment for The Secret History of Xiaozhuang.

Until 2000, Liu Dekai and director You Xiaogang co-produced Desire. Liu Dekai and You Xiaogang hit it off very well throughout the filming. He showed you Xiaogang the script of The Secret History of Xiaozhuang. You Xiaogang, on the spot, decided to shoot by Zhongbei Investment.

However, You Xiaogang was not satisfied with some details of the script. He suggested that the first thing to change is the positioning of the script and the combination of romance and historical drama, rather than the popular "jokes" in the past decade.

The change of You Xiaogang directly opened up another system for China costume drama-The Secret History.

At that time, Liu Dekai accepted all the opinions put forward by You Xiaogang, and finally made only one request to You Xiaogang-Xiaozhuang must be quiet and Dourgen must be Ma Jingtao.

Before Liu Dekai proposed, You Xiaogang didn't cooperate with Ma Jingtao, only heard that he had a bad temper.

At that time, most of the investment in the Secret History of Xiaozhuang was spent on the construction of scenery and cultural road, because the script spanned a very long time, including Shengjing and Beijing in the palace alone.

Later, Bai Qinglin, the actor of "Small jade" that everyone saw in the movie, was appointed at the crucial moment. At that time, when filming The Secret History of Xiaozhuang, she was still studying in Nortel, and she had little energy for drama performance.

In order to film the scene of Small jade's suicide before his death, Bai Qinglin deliberately went on a hunger strike for several days to create a haggard and desperate atmosphere in Small jade.

Yan Kun, who played Shunzhi, was only a freshman that year.

In fact, it is also an accident that he can play this role. At first, the crew asked the actors of Shunzhi and Dong E Fei to be around 25 years old.

Later, when choosing, You Xiaogang thought it was impossible and lowered the age standard of actors.
