Why use meteorological satellites to observe the weather?

There are two kinds of elephant satellites: polar orbit meteorological satellites and geostationary orbit meteorological satellites. The former can patrol the global surface twice a day, so it can obtain global data and provide information needed for medium and long-term digital weather forecasting. However, because it can only observe the same area twice a day, it is impossible to observe harmful small-scale weather phenomena with fast change and short survival time.

Geostationary meteorological satellites are just the opposite. It is located over a certain area, so it can continuously observe the changes of the situation in this area and is suitable for regional short-term weather forecast, but its meteorological observation ability in high latitudes is poor. So these two kinds of meteorological satellites should learn from each other.
