Jingdezhen is a hilly area, located in the transition zone between Huangshan Mountain, Huaiyu Mountain and Poyang Lake Plain, and is a typical red soil hilly area in the south of the Yangtze River. The average elevation of the urban area is 32 meters, and the terrain inclines from northeast to southwest. The northeast and northwest are mountainous, and the highest peak is located in the provincial border area bordering Anhui Xiuning, with an altitude of1618m. Jingdezhen city lies in a basin surrounded by mountains. In case of continuous rainstorm, urban areas are prone to floods.

Jingdezhen, alias "Porcelain Capital", is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of the northeast of Jiangxi Province, China, with a total area of 5,256 square kilometers and a permanent population of 1 587,477 2010. Located in the northeast of Jiangxi Province, the transition zone between the remaining veins of Huangshan Mountain and Huaiyushan Mountain and Poyang Lake Plain. Adjacent to Anqing City and Chizhou City in Anhui Province, and at the junction of Anhui, Zhejiang and Jiangxi provinces, it is an important transportation hub in China.
