How to describe the weather in English

Anti-cyclone/high pressure area

When the atmospheric pressure in an area is higher than that around it, it is called an anticyclone or high pressure area. In the northern hemisphere, the air mass around the anticyclone will move clockwise. The weather in a high pressure area is usually stable and sunny.

Full of light; Bright; (of color) bright and dazzling; smart

The sky is covered with a lot of thin clouds, with occasional sunshine.

cloudy

The total amount of clouds in the sky is between six and eight.

Low pressure/cyclone/low pressure area

When the atmospheric pressure in an area is lower than that around it, the system is called low pressure or cyclone. The area of a depression has no definite size, and its diameter ranges from 100 km to 2 000 km. The weather in low-pressure areas is usually unstable. The air mass around the low pressure will move counterclockwise in the northern hemisphere and clockwise in the southern hemisphere.

cold front

The dividing line between the advancing cold air mass and the warm air mass. During the passage of the cold front, the local weather changes as follows: the air pressure increases, the temperature drops, the wind direction changes (clockwise), accompanied by showers and thunderstorms. Generally speaking, the cold front in the south of China is not very strong, which may not bring about such remarkable weather changes.

Low pressure/cyclone/

Low pressure area

When the atmospheric pressure in an area is lower than that around it, the system is called low pressure or cyclone. The area of a depression has no definite size, and its diameter ranges from 100 km to 2 000 km. The weather in low-pressure areas is usually unstable. The air mass around the low pressure will move counterclockwise in the northern hemisphere and clockwise in the southern hemisphere.

dew

Radiation cooling at night causes the temperature to drop. When the air temperature drops below the dew point, some water vapor condenses from the saturated air near the ground to form dew, which is the temperature at which water in the air is saturated. Dew usually appears in the early morning and condenses on grass or other ground objects.

drizzle

The precipitation of very small water droplets.

very good

The sky is covered by less than six-eighths of the total cloud cover. However, even if the total amount of clouds exceeds six-eighths, as long as the clouds are thin enough for a lot of sunlight to penetrate, the weather can still be said to be sunny.

Fog, fog, fog,

Mist, mist, hazy

Fog is suspended particles formed by the condensation of water vapor in the air near the ground, which reduces the visibility to below 1 000 meters; If the reduced visibility is equal to or higher than1000m, it is called fog; If visibility is reduced by tiny dust or smoke particles, it is called haze.

rain

Precipitation from deep and thick clouds. It lasts longer than showers, but it rains less.

shower

Usually from short-term precipitation of convective clouds. It is characterized by the sudden start and end of precipitation and good weather before and after precipitation.

merry

It is sunny most of the day.
