Do earthworms hibernate? Why?

Earthworms are hibernating animals, and will go into hibernation at low temperature. This is because earthworms are cold-blooded animals, and their body temperature changes with the change of environmental temperature. When the ambient temperature drops in winter, their body temperature will also drop. In order to survive, earthworms will choose hibernation to cope with cold weather and lack of food. During hibernation, earthworms will slow down metabolism and reduce energy consumption to maintain the minimum energy needed for life activities, and at the same time, they will look for suitable hibernation places, such as deep soil or shelters, to avoid being affected by severe cold. Earthworms are invertebrates and belong to the genus Orthoearthworm. Its body is cylindrical, with a length of 1 1-38 cm and a width of 5- 12 mm, and consists of most links. Its head consists of two parts: the anterior lobe of the mouth and scapulohumeral periarthritis, and is covered by fleshy leaves.
