The difference between Jianghuai and Jiangnan

Jianghuai, as its name implies, refers to the Jianghuai area, broadly refers to Jiangnan and Huainan areas, broadly belongs to Jiangnan area, and narrowly refers to the area between Jianghuai areas, especially the present Jiangsu, central Anhui, southern Henan and northeastern Hubei areas.

Jiangnan, literally meaning Jiangnan, refers to the area south of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in the concept of human geography. Jiangnan in a narrow sense refers to the south bank of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Jiangnan in a broad sense includes the south of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, Nanling and Wuyishan, that is, the whole territory of Hunan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang and Shanghai and the area south of the Yangtze River in Hubei, Anhui and Jiangsu.

Jianghan Plain, located in the south-central part of Hubei Province, is formed by alluvial deposits of the Yangtze River and the Han River. It is one of the lowest plains in China, with an average elevation of only about 27 meters. It starts from zhijiang city in Yichang in the west, reaches Wuhan, the largest city in Central China in the east, reaches Zhongxiang in Jingmen in the north, and is connected with Dongting Lake Plain in the south.
