When you climb a tall building, Wan Li's homesickness arises spontaneously, and reeds and willows look like Tingzhou in the south of the Yangtze River. Dark clouds have just drifted to the stream, the sunset has fallen behind the pavilion, Shan Yu has come, and the wind is rustling all over the building. The imperial palace in Qin and Han dynasties was desolate. Birds landed on the grass, and Qiu Chan sang in the yellow leaves. Passers-by don't ask about the past, only Weishui flows eastward as always.

The poet's first couplet is a lyrical description of the scenery: "Tall building" refers to the west tower of Xianyang City. Xianyang Old Town is located in the northwest of Xi City, which was called Chang 'an in Han Dynasty and the capital of Qin and Han Dynasties was built here. During the Sui Dynasty, it moved to the southeast to establish a new city, namely Chang 'an, Tang Dou. Xianyang Old Town faces Chang 'an across the Weihe River; "Zanjian", that is, reed (Zanjian, Zandi; Jia, Lu), secretly expressed his thoughts with the poems of The Book of Songs, National Style and Qin Jian; "Tingzhou" means that the poet's hometown is in Jiangnan.
