Tourism strategy of Wuliangsuhai

Inner Mongolia has a semi-humid mid-temperate monsoon climate, with semi-humid areas in the east and semi-arid areas in the west. The main feature is the large temperature difference between day and night, which can generally reach about 10 degrees, so you should bring more clothes when traveling here. The disastrous weather in Inner Mongolia includes spring drought and winter blizzard.

Traffic tips

To Wuliangsuhai, you can take a train or bus from Baotou to Urad Qianqi, and then transfer to Wuliangsuhai by bus or coach. Or drive by yourself. Wuliangsuhai has a vast territory, and bird watching can freely choose the direction and distance. If you only have 1 day, you can watch birds near the tourist area. If you have enough time, drive or rent a car to a distant place.

Because of the tourist area, the conditions of eating, living and traveling are better, but if you go to a more remote place, the conditions will be worse. Generally speaking, if you don't have your own car, it is difficult to go further in Wuliangsuhai area, let alone see more birds. Therefore, the purpose of bird watching in Wuliangsuhai can only be achieved by driving by yourself or contacting the local authorities for help.

There are many shuttle buses from Baotou to Urad Qianqi (about 1.5 hours/138 kilometers /40 yuan). Take a taxi in Qianqi (60 yuan) to Wuliangsuhai or take a shuttle bus to Dashetai.

Food: Dinner is suggested to be settled in various small restaurants outside Qianqi Station, which is economical and practical.

Accommodation: Bayun Hotel (90 yuan/Triple Room) next to the station is almost the best choice.

Photo: There are many low mud houses around Baotou, and the TV fishbone antenna on the roof is both familiar and spectacular for "people who have come over".

Play: You can take a cruise at point 1 (about 20km) (130 yuan /6 seats, tickets to 8 yuan). In Baotou, there are several other places worth visiting, such as Wudangzhao.
