Yantai is surrounded by mountains and seas, with pleasant climate, no severe cold in winter and no heat in summer. It belongs to warm temperate monsoon climate, with an average annual temperature of about 12 degrees Celsius. It is a famous summer resort and leisure resort in northern China.

Island distribution
Yantai has a coastline of 909 kilometers, bordering the Bohai Sea in the north and northwest, and the Yellow Sea in the northeast and south. There are 63 islands with large and small bedrock, like bright pearls embedded in the sea. Zhifu Island, Nanchangshan Island and Mayang Island have a large area, and there are 15 islands with residents, namely Nanchangshan Island, Beihangshan Island, Daheishan Island, Xiaoheishan Island, Miaodao Island, Zhaiji Island, Daqin Island, Qinxiao Island, Nanhuangcheng Island and Beihuangcheng Island in Changdao County.
Seawater characteristics

The annual average surface salinity of seawater is about 28 ~ 3 1 ‰. The coastal area from Laizhou to Longkou is irregular and the coastal area from Longkou to Muping and Haiyang is regular.
