Where does Pinglu honey belong?

It is produced in all towns and villages in Pinglu County. Take Caochuan Town as an example. 1995, beekeepers in the township own more than 4,000 boxes of bees, with an annual output of more than 80 tons of honey and a sales income of more than 500,000 yuan. 1997 autumn, the weather was particularly dry, and the nectar of Vitex negundo was almost not harvested. Many beekeepers are downsizing or unable to buy overwintering feed, resulting in the death of bees. Therefore, according to the statistics of 1998, there are more than 100 beekeepers and more than 3,000 boxes of bees in this town, with an annual output of more than 50 tons of honey, more than 200 kilograms of royal jelly and more than 5,000 beeswax.

Pinglu mountain area has unique beekeeping conditions. First, honey resources are abundant. There are not only Robinia pseudoacacia and Vitex negundo in the mountainous area of this county, but also rape flowers, spike flowers and various wild flowers. Nectar resources are abundant, and flowers bloom and fall from spring to autumn, so there is no feeding problem in normal years. Second, it has a unique geographical and climatic environment suitable for the development of bee industry. The flat land is long and narrow, the river backs the mountain, the north is high and the south is low, and the climate is quite different. Even with the same nectar resources, the open season is early and late, which provides a good place for bees to collect honey in a small corner. In spring, bees can be planted along the river first, and a large number of rape flowers can provide honey powder for bees. Robinia pseudoacacia honey can be collected along the river and the Central Plains in April. Vitex negundo and various mountain nectar will last until autumn in May, and all kinds of wild flowers will open for the second time, and the honey sources will continue. Pinglu beekeeping industry has broad prospects for development.
