Wenzhou aojiang weather
Today, I remembered the old house on Xinglong Street in Aojiang that survived that year.
Aojiang Port is now one of the five major intermodal ports in Zhejiang Province. In 1990s, it was listed as a national second-class open port, with a 1,000-ton wharf and an annual throughput of 1 10,000 tons. With the successive construction of Ounan Bridge, Wenfu Railway and Yongtaiwen Expressway, the status of Aojiang Port as a satellite port of Wenzhou Port is increasingly apparent.
However, more than 60 years ago, Aojiang Port was bombarded by the Japanese aggressors. In a period of time, the whole Aojiang Town and Aojiang Port Area were bombed as much as Oujiang and Wenzhou Port. From 65438 to 0938, Aojiang Port just opened, and its scale and freight volume were not as good as Wenzhou Port. Why did the Japanese invaders pay so much attention to it?
On the 60th anniversary of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the author interviewed some old people in Aojiang Town, reread Mr. Liu Shaokuan's Diary of hou zhuang and Mr. Lifu Wang's Chronicle of Wang Hailing, and found out the reasons.
1939 On September 30th, Mr. Liu Shaokuan wrote in hou zhuang Diary: "The population of Aojiang River was evacuated yesterday. Yuan Yongjia (Wenzhou), Commissioner Xu (Zongwu) and other quasi-foreign ships are sailing from Pingyang Aojiang River for fear of Japanese attack (Wenzhou Port), so this strategy is formulated. I don't know whether to attract the enemy and evacuate them by navigation, so the goods are traded. Who will transport and sell them? Afraid of enemy bombing, if you don't engage in navigation, so as to avoid its disaster? Those who set sail to recruit enemies are those who covet the tax benefits of goods entering and leaving the country, regardless of the suffering of their people. Gu gave the order to retreat, thinking it was to defend the people, but he could only rely on explanation. Last year, when the enemy came to blockade Haikou, the customs officials and others cut off the Aojiang River to make the goods pass through Yongjia (Wenzhou) for their own benefit. The purpose of intercepting the Oujiang River today is to make Pingyang navigable and relieve its disaster. The official's heart is too bad and he wants to protect the people. Can he be generous? " "Huang Shaoxiong, chairman of the province, wants to open a navigation road in Pingyang Aojiang River. The party department has been trained by electricity and said that he knows where it is, but he does not know all about the national economy."
As can be seen from this diary, it was in the early days of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. In order to disperse and avoid the Japanese bombing of Wenzhou port, the authorities adopted the practice of protecting Wenzhou port and giving up Aojiang port. After the closure of Wenzhou Port, in order to earn tax revenue for the import and export of goods, Aojiang Port will still be opened to allow foreign ships and domestic cargo ships coming to Wenzhou to come in from Aojiang Port and attract enemy planes to bomb Aojiang Port. At the same time, in order to appease the people, let Ao Bai people go out to flee.
After that, from 1939 to 1943, enemy planes generally harassed enemy ships and bombed them hundreds of times. The hou zhuang Diary recorded more than 50 times of bombing of the Aojiang River, and enemy planes came to spy or bomb at regular intervals. In those years, the whole Aojiang Port Area and Xinglong Street built along the Aojiang River were destroyed beyond recognition, and Xinglong Street became an abandoned street and a burning street.
The firms most affected by Japanese bombing are Wang Guangyuan, Tong Sheng Li, Li Rentai, Yongji, Jiucheng, Yifeng, Bai Yongfeng and Tongfeng. Especially Wang Guangyuan, an industrialist from Aojiang, Lifu Wang and Wang Wenchuan. It is the largest firm in Aojiang Port, and Wang and his son are the founders of foreign trade in Aojiang Port. Under the intensive bombing of the Japanese army, their career is "within three years, nine houses will be easy to live in, regardless of asset losses" (according to Wang Haisu's Chronicle). Wang Wan (a famous historian), the third son of Mr. Lifu Wang, once recalled: "Since the Anti-Japanese War, the Aojiang River has been burned and robbed repeatedly. 1940, enemy planes bombed Guangyuan's firm, and the house and goods were mutually assured destruction. 1June, 942, the enemy landed on the Aojiang River and burned down my old house, our home base. Shops and homes were burned down, so we moved to Wenzhou. 1943, the enemy attacked Jinhua branch again and took away the goods hidden in our new house in Wenzhou. 1in the spring of 945, that is, a few months before Japan surrendered, the enemy fled from Fujian to Zhejiang, passing through the Lijiang River and plundering. "
The original name of Aojiang River is "dock dock", which was originally a small dock for fishing boats. 1923, Lifu Wang and Wang Wenchuan established and operated a Wang Guangyuan firm in Aojiang, and built a wharf, which was first opened to Shantou and Hongkong. The Wan Li Waterway, which connects Shanghai, Dalian, Yingkou and even Sichuan ports in the north, turned the "Dock Head" which was closed for thousands of years into the import and export trade center in southern Zhejiang at that time, which promoted the development of agricultural and sideline products, handicrafts and municipal construction in Aojiang, making Aojiang a famous economic center of 10,000 people in the southeast, and was once known as the "little shanghai" in southern Zhejiang. Wang Guangyuan and other Aojiang businessmen transport local products such as tea, vegetable oil, salt and alum to other cities in China or export them to Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Thailand and other countries and regions through this port. Many industrial materials from other places also enter through the Aojiang Port. At that time, the highway traffic in southern Zhejiang and northern Fujian was underdeveloped, and Aojiang Port became the material distribution center in this area.
The location of Aojiang Port, coupled with the practice of the authorities leading the enemy to bomb Aojiang, made Aojiang Port the most important target of Japanese invaders in southern Zhejiang. During the period from 1939 to 1943, Hou Zhuang's diary reflected the record of enemy aircraft invading almost every few days: "There were bombs on the upper and middle ports of the Aojiang River, but the middle port was the most seriously damaged. Wang Guangyuan and Tong Shengli were burned to death and stopped in the port street, killing more than 100 people." "Nineteen pieces of the Aojiang River were bombed, including four incendiary bombs and two falling into the river, destroying Lirentai, Yongji, Jiucheng, Yijin, Bai Yongfeng, Tongfeng, rice mill and tea stack." "The aojiang river and blew up four bombs, a ship was destroyed. On that day, the county magistrate and all the officials moved to Beigang. " A small market town dropped a dozen bombs at once, and the tragic situation of Aojiang Port can be imagined.
It is also recorded in hou zhuang Diary that the weather was sunny for a long time and the drought was severe. It was the season of summer harvest and summer sowing. The authorities ordered "all villages to open steep gates to make the water shallow, so as to prevent them from entering ... the lake inside the boat and crossing the river. No matter how steep the gates are, enemy ships cannot enter." This kind of order can only be carried out sincerely by local officials, not on behalf of Chen, alas! Hey! "
As can be seen from the above historical data, Aojiang Port was the hardest hit area during the Anti-Japanese War, which was more severely hit than other towns in southern Zhejiang. Detailed records in Diary of hou zhuang, Chronicle of Wang Hailing, and The Fu Family of Li Wang Moved from Aojiang to Wenzhou all show that Aojiang was more dangerous than Wenzhou at that time. In order to preserve Wenzhou Port, maintain the transportation of import and export goods in wartime, and at the same time, in order to prevent enemy ships from coming in and fighting directly with them, the authorities adopted the strategy of "losing the pawn to protect the car". These are one of the reasons why Aojiang Port and Aojiang Town have become the hardest hit areas.
History has passed. As an old port with a history of nearly a hundred years, Aojiang Port is now an important port for Wenzhou to implement the development strategy of "one port, three cities" and Zhejiang Province to implement the project of "strengthening the province by water transport". However, the people of Aojiang will never forget this history of bombing and bloody plunder.
