Shangri-La is a beautiful place. Why has no one climbed to the top of Meili Snow Mountain in Shangri-La?

There are actually two reasons why no one has climbed to the top of Meili Snow Mountain in Shangri-La: one: religious issues. Two: Climbing risks.

The first reason is because the government wants to respect the customs of ethnic minorities and retain a sense of sanctity.

The second reason is that climbing snow-capped mountains in low latitudes faces huge risks. Meili Snow Mountain is located in a very low dimension, unlike high-latitude snow mountains. The mountaineering season in high-latitude snow-capped mountains is very sunny. During the mountaineering season, when the weather is very stable, you only need to be prepared. Then with your excellent mountaineering experience, you can climb to the top of the mountain as planned and then retreat smoothly. The weather forecast can also accurately predict the weather conditions in the next few days in advance, making you more worry-free.

But low-latitude snow-capped mountains are different. Even in autumn and winter, the snow above the snow line is relatively loose, making it impossible to accurately predict the climate. Weather changes are more random and the snow is more unstable. Climbing such a snowy mountain is largely not a matter of skill but luck. Even if the climbing technique has been perfected and the preparations have been done to the extreme, the probability of an accident is still high, so climbing this snowy mountain is no longer a challenge, but a pure gamble. The Japanese mountaineering team suddenly suffered an avalanche in the Meili Snow Mountain. This situation would not have happened on mountains like Mount Everest.

Gongga Snow Mountain and Meili Snow Mountain are at the same low latitude. There are very few people climbing the top because the mortality rate is high. But if the weather is good, it is not difficult for professional climbers to reach the top. But the thing is, weather can happen at any time during any of your climbs or retreats. So those who climb Gongga are not because they are good, but because they are lucky. Meili Snow Mountain is slightly more technically difficult than Gongga Snow Mountain, but it is not an insurmountable technical peak. If you're lucky, professional mountaineering teams will have little problem climbing to the top. However, the problem is that if you encounter difficulties on the road, you have to wait for death.

So no matter what the reason is, I support the ban on climbing Meili Snow Mountain, because mountain climbing is a challenge, a sport, not gambling, and life is the most important thing.
