It was the summer of 1958, the first year of the Great Leap Forward, and construction was going on everywhere. As the father of the village's capable people, he was sent to do the railway, which was called the Railway Corps at that time. He was accompanied by my uncle Zhou Fujin and Zhou Mandou in the same village. Each of them advanced 1 kilograms of rice to the brigade, took some food and set off. Because he had to arrange things in the team, he started late, and it began to get dark when he went to Shendu. I started on my way early the next morning, but when I was approaching the new building, I met a lot of people walking back. When I asked, I learned that it was also the railway corps, saying that the railway headquarters was not ready yet, and the commune below was so active in transferring people, and the superior informed us that the railway corps would do the "Dongfanghong" reservoir. In this way, my father and his party followed the crowd and diverted back to Zuoku, Huzhen, to be the Dongfanghong Reservoir. Speaking of a reservoir is actually an idea at best. Why do you say that? Because there was only a path from Huzhen to Zuoku at that time, the reservoir had to start from the road. Two or three months ago, my father lived near Huzhen and went to build roads with large troops. At that time, tools were backward, sediment was basically picked, and stones were lifted by two shoulders, but many hands make light work, and the tasks were segmented. Everyone was in full swing and the progress of widening roads was relatively fast. By September of that year, the roadbed from Huzhen to Zuoku was basically completed, and the walking tractors were already accessible. In this way, the whole team moved up to the Qianmingkeng area of Zuoku, and my father and his party followed them to live in Likengkou Village. Because there were many people, local cadres mobilized members to vacate all available houses for migrant workers. My father lived in private houses with one floor, and it was a disaster when the weather was bad. Really. Despite this, everyone was full of energy. When working, everyone shouted their songs to cheer for everyone. The scene was really in full swing. However, enthusiasm can't represent the progress, and the dam bottom needs to be cut off. At that time, there was only one three-horse pump in the whole project, which was sometimes good and bad, so sometimes a little bit built was washed away by water the next day. When the pump was broken, rickshaw water was used. Although there were several racks, the water pumped up by creaking could not match the water seeped back at all, and the progress was very slow. However, being a reservoir army still carries forward the spirit of "Yu Gong Yi Shan", persevering and persevering. Because of the need for soil bonding, a special team went to dig and pick up soil, and later the hill on the edge of the reservoir was dug up by half. The time for reservoir construction is very tight. It is not only dark in the morning, but also during the Chinese New Year. It will not be stopped until December 27 of the lunar calendar, and it will start on the eighth day of the first month of the following year. However, these were the products of the Great Leap Forward. In the absence of scientific design and effective tools, such a big project was really impossible at that time, so the project lasted for about one year and finally had to stop working.
