Taoyuan, a province and city in Taiwan Province, is located in the northwest of Taiwan Province Island in China, adjacent to Xinbei City, Hsinchu County and Yilan County. Taoyuan area 1220.954 square kilometers, divided into 13 areas.

The area around Taoyuan District was first reclaimed by Xue Qilong, a pioneer of Hakka in the early Qing Dynasty. Formerly known as "Humaozhuang", it was later renamed "Peach Garden" because immigrants planted peach trees everywhere. 1920, Taiwan Province Province was reorganized and renamed "Taoyuan Street", which was placed under the jurisdiction of Taoyuan County, Hsinchu County.

Linkou Platform and Guilunling Mountain stand out in the northeast of the city, which is the natural division of Taipei Basin and Taoyuan Platform. The center of Taoyuan is Pinganli in Pingzhen District, Lanqi Mountain in Fuxing District in the east, Shell Harbor in Wuxin District in the west, Qiu Xi Mountain in Fuxing District in the south and Kengzikou in Luzhu District in the north.

Geological climate of Taoyuan City

The platform of Taoyuan Platform is composed of gravel layer, which is usually called "platform gravel layer", and some scholars call it "red soil platform accumulation layer". These laterite gravel layers are often subdivided into different strata, namely Dianzihu layer, Zhongli layer and Taoyuan layer. There is little difference in lithology between these strata.

It is mainly composed of lower gravel layer and upper red soil layer. Gravels are mainly white quartzite, dark gray siliceous sandstone and light gray sandstone. As for faults, the faults in Taoyuan City are all distributed in the hilly areas in the eastern half, and there are no faults in the densely populated plain areas in the western half.

Taoyuan City has a subtropical monsoon climate except the southeast mountainous area. The climate of Taoyuan City is most influenced by northeast monsoon and southwest monsoon. The northeast monsoon starts from the end of 10 and ends in March of the following year, with strong wind and low temperature. The southwest monsoon starts from May to September, with weak winds and sunny weather, but there are many thunderstorms in the afternoon, especially typhoons from July to September.
