History of Guan Yi's Tomb in Shi Kefa

Shi Kefa (A.D. 1602- 1645), a famous politician and strategist in the late Ming Dynasty, was a lucky man (Kaifeng, Henan Province today). In A.D. 1637- 1639 (from July, 10th year of Chongzhen, Ming Dynasty to the summer of 12th year), Shi Kefa was appointed as the Imperial Advisor of Jinduyou, and was appointed as the governor of Anqing, Luzhou, Taiping and Chizhou, as well as the surrounding counties of Henan, Huguang and Jiangxi, and was stationed in Lu 'an. He was associated with the surname Shi who lived in Dongxiang, Lu 'an at that time, and traced it back to the same origin of his ancestors.

Shi Kefa was born in Xiangfu County (now Kaifeng City). He was born in the 30th year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty (1602). He was an honest official with outstanding achievements and a famous politician in the late Ming Dynasty. In the first year of Hong Guang (1645), Shi Kefa went to Baidongge, where he served as a university student and minister of war, and supervised Yangzhou. Regent Dourgen of Qing Dynasty led tens of thousands of troops to attack Yangzhou and surrendered many times. Shi Kefa should not. In the end, Yangzhou fell because it was outnumbered. He was only 44 years old when he committed suicide and was not caught. Yangzhou was the first city in the south of the Yangtze River to stubbornly resist the Qing army, and it was also the first time that the Qing army encountered strong resistance from integration of defense and civilian technologies. In order to retaliate against the people of Yangzhou, it was also the Qing people who wanted to make an example, so they ordered more, burning and looting for ten days. Shi Kefa died after the destruction of Yangzhou City 12 days. Because of the hot weather, the body rotted beyond recognition.

After the Qing soldiers entered Shanhaiguan, Shi Kefa advocated making peace with them and * * * won the peasant army in Li Zicheng. After being excluded by Ma Shiying and others, Du Shihuai Yang tried his best to coordinate the generals of four towns in Jiangbei to resist the Qing soldiers. In A.D. 1645 (the second year of Shunzhi), Prince Qing Yu surrounded Yangzhou, and Shi Kefa refused to surrender and held on to the city, which was later breached and sacrificed heroically. Duoduo suffered heavy casualties because of the siege of the Qing army, so he ordered the slaughter of Yangzhou people. The massacre lasted 10 days, which is called "Yangzhou Ten Days" in history. Shi Kefa died after the destruction of Yangzhou City 12 days. Because of the hot weather, the body rotted beyond recognition. The following year, Steve, Shi Kefa's adopted son, buried Shi Kefa's crown under Meihualing in Yangzhou. Forty-one years after Qianlong (1776), he pursued "loyalty" in the first month. So the inscription on the memorial archway is "Shi Zhongzheng Cemetery".
