Interview experience in Shanghai Pudong Development Bank

I received an interview notice from Shanghai Pudong Development Bank on Monday (65438+10.6), when I was still on a business trip in Hangzhou. It was a bit abrupt at that time, because I seem to remember that it was two months ago to submit my resume, and I don't even remember what position I applied for. I googled it online and remembered that it was the position of recruiting representative for the Hong Kong representative office of X Bank.

Depart from Jinan Yao Qiang Airport early in the morning (from Chengdu to Jinan on Thursday, all the way on business, Chengdu is the last stop of this trip), and after about an hour's flight, arrive at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. It's still early, it's only 9: 30 in the morning, and there are still three hours before noon 12: 45. So I didn't take a taxi directly to the hotel as usual. I chose to take bus No.925, from Hongqiao Airport to People's Square, and I also felt the bus service in Shanghai.

Since I chose to work in Beijing after returning home, my prejudice against Shanghai has gradually decreased. Frankly speaking, I like Shanghai more and more in recent years. Because of my work, I have been to almost all the big cities in China (except Hainan Island and several autonomous regions). There is no denying that Shanghai is the most suitable city for working and living in China. I like the weather in Shanghai, warm and humid, and of course I like the strong business atmosphere in Shanghai. The weather in Beijing is so bad (especially in winter), it's cold and dry, and it hasn't rained for almost half a year. I can't stand it. Many streets in Shanghai (including Huaihai Road and Nanjing Road) are only a third or even a quarter of those in Beijing, and there will be many shops on both sides of the street. In Beijing, whether it is Chang 'an Avenue, the Second Ring Road or the Third Ring Road, the road is as wide as a stadium, and it is impossible to cross the zebra crossing easily from one side of the road to the other. Besides, commercial facilities in Beijing seem to be concentrated in several places, such as Xidan, Guo Mao and New World. Many streets in Shanghai are lined with shops and shopping centers ... After brunch in a Japanese restaurant near People's Square, walk from Fuzhou Road to the bank on the Bund. The building where the bank is located is not much different from other buildings on the Bund in appearance, so that I didn't notice the bank many times when I was walking on the Bund. Walking through the slowly rotating glass and copper door, I was immediately shocked (perhaps more vividly, my breath was taken away). And the lobby of this bank is really breathtaking, reminiscent of the palaces in medieval Europe.

Only four people (including me) attended today's interview. After a brief greeting, I learned that they are all engaged in the financial industry. One of them looks about my age, while the other two look nearly 40 years old. I take an indifferent attitude, because I understand that my biggest disadvantage is that I have no banking background, which is a key point. Can you inform me to attend the interview (the bank reimburses the round-trip air ticket), I already feel that it is an affirmation of my ability or quality.

The interview has begun. A young man and a young woman (estimated to be no more than 30 years old) are sitting in the conference room. After greeting, I sat opposite them. About half an hour's conversation was all conducted in English (I think the main purpose is to evaluate English ability). Men and women took turns to ask questions about my experience, why I applied for this position, my understanding of banking, my views on bank cards, my understanding of competitors and so on. Fortunately, it is impossible for such a conversation to ask me about professional business operations that I know nothing about. On the contrary, it leads to the macro situation of the banking industry that I have learned, such as banking reform, introducing foreign strategic investors (foreign banks), banking supervision and the theory of selling state-owned banks at low prices some time ago. Obviously, speaking English with a British accent in front of these two young examiners (probably from the personnel department or the international department of the bank) makes me feel relaxed and confident. At the same time, I feel that I have been reading the serious newspaper Economic Observer for the past two years, which has benefited a lot.

Then there was another big conference room, facing five obviously experienced interviewers. After smiling and nodding, I sat opposite them with a microphone in front of me. Half an hour of questioning, almost asked the same field, only in Chinese.

Finally, there is a one-and-a-half-hour written test (including a half-hour psychological evaluation of 100 multiple-choice questions and an hour of professional ability test). The examination of professional ability is divided into three parts: commercial banks, investment banks and financial knowledge. To be fair, the questions are not difficult. They should all be very basic things, but I am not sure about many things. After all, I have not studied financial knowledge seriously and systematically, such as the specific methods of five-level classification of bank loans. However, the Chinese meaning of' goodwill' and its accounting method, the English full name of Nasdaq, what are QFII and QDII, and the requirements of the new company law for the registered capital of joint-stock companies are all accumulated in peacetime.

I was about to leave after asking questions when I met an interviewer who had just interviewed me. He let me into a room and said he wanted to talk to me alone. He said that I did well among the four interviewers today. The people interviewed just now include the head of personnel department and the head of investment bank, and he himself is the president of X branch. He said that he felt that I was too unsuitable for this position because I had no direct banking experience. The position of Hong Kong representative office should be familiar with banking business and have considerable experience. He said that if I wanted to, I could consider going to Shenzhen Branch to be an account manager or product manager first, and then apply for Hong Kong Branch after the bank's business in Hong Kong expanded in a year or two. I didn't say anything at once, only that I would think about it.

Immediately, I rushed to Hongqiao airport. On the way, some people were excited and others were at a loss. Shenzhen is a nice city, but I don't think it is suitable for life. Besides, I haven't considered working in Shenzhen in the past. Although the president seems to appreciate me, the position of Shenzhen branch he mentioned is not very attractive. Let's wait until the official interview results (and written test) come out. It's good to be a soldier and enter the banking industry.
