On July 20 1313, two members of the British Local Self-Defense Forces died due to the hot weather and excessive training intensity while participating in the selection of the British Air Force Special Forces.
From August 5, 20 13 to August 5, 20 1 year, high temperature above 40℃ occurred in some parts of Japan, and 98 15 people were hospitalized with heatstroke, of which 17 people died.
In the same period, most parts of Europe are constantly refreshing the local maximum temperature. However, on the evening of July 28th, the hail suddenly started in Hanover, Germany, and it was very big, with a diameter of about 5 cm and a maximum diameter of 8 cm. Many people were injured by hail. The disaster caused millions of euros in losses to Hanover.
The ensuing floods and hot weather made Germany flooded with mosquitoes. In some areas, "mosquitoes even cover the sky and look like cloudy days."
In August of 20 13, the rainstorm in the Russian Far East also brought the biggest flood in its history. The flood forced 10000 people to flee their homes, flooding large areas of farmland and many roads. There are 140 residential areas in Amur, Khabarovsk and Jewish Autonomous Prefecture, and the damaged area of crops is 627,400 hectares, accounting for about 40% of the total planting area.
Extreme weather raged, and China was not spared. Since July, the average maximum temperature in southern China has been 38.6℃, 2.4℃ higher than normal, and the average number of high temperature days in the region is 10.2 days, 4.8 days higher than normal. In Sichuan, Chongqing, Hunan, Jiangxi, Fujian, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu and other provinces, there are 300 meteorological observation stations with daily maximum temperatures.
In Shanghai, the high temperature continued in the summer of 20 13, and the number of heatstroke patients increased significantly. More than 10 people died of non-occupational heatstroke, among which indoor heatstroke patients accounted for more than 30%. The high temperature in Zhejiang also caused many people to die of heatstroke.
While the south of China was hit by a large-scale extreme high temperature, the Nenjiang River and Songhua River in the northeast had the biggest flood since 1998.
Affected by the floods of Nenjiang River and Songhua River, there have been more than 200 dangerous situations in each dike section of Zhaoyuan County, Heilongjiang Province. Due to the continuous high water level of Lianhuan Lake, the local waterlogging in Dorbod Mongolian Autonomous County, where Nenjiang flood peak passes, has increased, and the affected population in the county has reached 64,700.
The terrible scenes caused by extreme weather in 20 13 made Caroline Eichler, an expert of the United Nations World Meteorological Organization, exclaim: These scenes look like the "doomsday" scenes in the movie 20 12!
