When was Macao occupied by whom and for how many years?
1553, the Portuguese obtained the right of abode in Macao. 1887 12 1 year, Portugal and the Qing government signed the Draft Convention of the China-Portugal Conference and the Sino-Portuguese Treaty of Reconciliation and Trade, and formally occupied Macao through diplomatic formalities and turned it into a colony. After more than 400 years of European civilization and the integration of eastern and western cultures, Macao has become a unique city, leaving a large number of historical and cultural relics. On July 6th, 2005, Macao Historic District officially became a United Nations World Cultural Heritage. On February 20th, the China government resumed the exercise of sovereignty over Macao. After Macao's return to China, its economy developed rapidly and became more prosperous than before. This is a successful example of one country, two systems.
