Due to the heavy rainfall intensity, a few low-lying sections were flooded, which once "added chaos" to urban traffic.

In response to the recent thunderstorm weather, the Beijing Meteorological Observatory timely issued a yellow warning signal for lightning and a blue warning signal for rainstorm, warning that there will be short-term rainstorm and local hail in some areas within three hours, reminding flood control departments and citizens to take precautions against short-term thunderstorm and gale hazards.

Why are thunderstorms frequent?

Recently, there have been thunderstorms in Beijing in the afternoon or evening or even at night, which is influenced by this Mongolian cold vortex.

If Beijing is affected by the vortex weather system in summer, it has the characteristics of heavy rainfall, uneven rainfall, lightning, strong wind, hail and other weather phenomena.
