How to grow celery?
The seed material of celery is fruit. Because the pericarp and oil gland are thick, the texture is hard, it is difficult to penetrate water, and the germination is slow and irregular. It is necessary to soak the seeds to accelerate the germination. After soaking the seeds for about 12 ~ 14 hours, wash them with clear water, gently rub them with your hands while washing, rub off the epidermis, and spread them out to dry. Celery seeds are relatively light, and they are not covered with soil after sowing, but covered with a thin layer of straw. On the one hand, their function is to prevent water from evaporating, and on the other hand, to prevent it from being accumulated by alluvial after being wet by water. About 10 day after sowing, the seeds germinate, that is, the covered grass is removed. When the seedlings grow to 2-3 true leaves, they can be divided into plants, and when the seedlings grow to 4-5 true leaves, they can be planted. Sow 13 ~ 15g every 667m2.
(2) On-site management. When planting, the border with the width of 1 m should be planted in two rows with the spacing of 20 ~ 25 cm. Because the growth period of celery is as long as 6 ~ 7 months, base fertilizer is very important. In addition to organic fertilizer, 30 kg of ammonium sulfate, 30 kg of calcium superphosphate and potassium chloride 10 kg were applied every 667 m2. Except ammonium sulfate for topdressing, all three fertilizers are used as base fertilizers. Fertilize celery at least 3-4 times during the whole growth period.
Weeds will hinder the growth of celery, so we should pay attention to weeding frequently, but celery is a shallow-rooted vegetable, so it should not be too deep during intertillage, otherwise it will hurt the root system of celery. You can also spray 25% herbicide diethyl ether after celery planting, and the dosage should not exceed 0.75 kg per 667 m2.
Maintain soil moisture properly to avoid dryness and water accumulation. Too dry soil often inhibits the development of celery, slows down the growth rate, causes hollow stems and bolting, affects the quality and reduces the yield; When the soil accumulates water, the stems are easy to rot.
(3) harvesting. When the celery plant grows to about 15 true leaves, the fresh and tender leaves in the middle of the plant can be harvested in stages until bolting and flowering in the next year. Celery cannot overwinter in the open air. If you want to collect seeds, you need to move the old roots into the greenhouse before freezing, and then plant them in the open air in April of the following year.
(4) pest control. During the growth period of celery, pests and diseases occur less. Pests include aphids, carrot flies and so on. The main disease is leaf spot.
