Kaili City, referred to as Kai for short, is the prefecture-level administrative capital of Qiandongnan Autonomous Prefecture, located in the east of Guizhou Province, China, and is one of the major central cities in Guizhou Province. Kaili is a phonetic translation of Miao language, which means the fields of Mulao people. In Miao language, the Mulao people call it Kai, Tianli at the end of the field, and Kaili is the place where the Mulao people farm.
