Meishan, called Meizhou in ancient times, is located on the southwest edge of Sichuan Basin, between Fujian and Emei, and is named after Emei Mountain. It is the hometown of Su Dongpo, a thousand-year-old writer, and an important part of the national Tianfu New District. Known as the "Millennium Book City" and "the first state of humanities".

The annual flood season (May-September) has the largest rainfall in July, and the rainfall in flood season accounts for about 85% of the total annual rainfall.
