Cai Wenji's story and introduction

Cai Yan, whose real name is Wenxi and whose real name is Evonne, was born in Pixian County, Chenliu County (now Qixian County, Henan Province) and was the daughter of Cai Yong, a female writer in the Eastern Han Dynasty.

The Annals of Sui Shu's Classics contains a volume of Cai Wenji Collection, which has been lost today, except for Two Poems for the Past and Eighteen Beats of Hu Jia. The story of Wenxi returning to Han is widely circulated.

Cai Wenji is well-read and proficient in music. He married Wei Zhongdao in Hedong in his early years. Wei Zhongdao died early, they had no children, and Cai Yan went home.

Xingping two years (195), Dong Zhuo, Li Jue, etc. Guanzhong rebelled against the Central Plains one after another, and the southern Xiongnu took the opportunity to rebel and plunder, and Cai Yan was taken away by Xiongnu Zuo Wang Xian. In the 11th year of Jian 'an (207), Cao Cao always loved literature and calligraphy, and often had literary and calligraphy exchanges with Cai Yan's father Cai Yong. Seeing that Cai Yong had no children, Cao Cao redeemed Cai Yan from the southern Xiongnu with resplendence and married Cai Yan to Dong Si.
