Mengla County governs 7 towns and 3 townships (including 2 ethnic townships): Mengla Town, Mengpeng Town, Mengman Town, Menglun Town, Shang Yong Town, Mengban Town, Guanlei Town, Yiwu Township, Xiangming Yi Township and Yao Township in Yao District. * * There are 4 communities and 52 administrative villages. Mengla County is one of the counties under the jurisdiction of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province, which is located in the southeast of Xishuangbanna Autonomous Prefecture. Mengla County borders Laos in the east and south, faces Myanmar across the Lancang River in the southwest corner, is close to Jinghong City, the capital of autonomous prefecture in the northwest, and is adjacent to Jiangcheng Hani and Yi Autonomous County in Pu 'er City in the north.

Mengla County is located in the east of Lancang River fault, slightly behind the southern end of Wuliangshan, with high terrain in the northeast and low terrain in the southwest and south. Due to the control of tectonics, many mountains and basins in the north-south direction have been formed, and the Zhongshan mountain plain in the north has been formed, with undulating slopes, beautiful karst landscape in the middle and wide valley basins in the south.
