Minhang District is a prefecture-level city in People's Republic of China (PRC) and Shanghai. Located in the middle of Shanghai, it looks like a "key". It was established on September 26th, 1992 at/kloc-0, with an area of 37 1.68 square kilometers. Minhang is also known as the "Southwest Gateway of Shanghai" because most of its jurisdiction is inherited from Shanghai County, which is a crescent-shaped urban area.
Minhang District has a large span from north to south, bordering Pudong New Area, Xuhui District, Changning District, Jiading District, Songjiang District, Qingpu District and Fengxian District, and connecting with Hongqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone and caohejing High-tech Industrial Development Zone.
