1. The meaning of listening
1. It is a communicative act.
Listening, whether consciously or unconsciously, is the acceptance and understanding of sound information, which is a basic communicative behavior. The purpose of listening is to obtain certain information content, such as listening to lectures, listening to telephone calls, listening to weather forecasts, etc. It has little to do with the way of speaking. Therefore, students should be provided with more content-centered listening materials and listening activities instead of just speaking style.
2. It is a psychological process.
Listening, on the surface, is a passive psychological process, but it is not. Listening is active. The sound information from the outside must first be perceived and cut by the hearing organs, then processed, screened and sorted out to form memories, and finally the information is fed back. It is a process of various psychological activities. Therefore, teachers should strengthen the training of cognitive skills.

The cultivation of innovative thinking ability of primary school students by teachers can be simply summarized as: establishing a system, making two preparations, optimizing three environments and forming four skills.
1. Establish a system.
In traditional English teaching, there is no special listening training system, and listening activities are limited to textbook-centered comprehensive teaching. This kind of listening activity focuses on the listening, arguing and memorizing of language forms, and the listening activity aimed at understanding the content of the text is obviously insufficient, and the training of listening skills is also very insufficient. Therefore, a special listening training system should be established, which should include the listening training in the textbook-centered comprehensive teaching just mentioned and the listening training dedicated to understanding the text content and strengthening the skill training.
