The Temple of the Sea is located at No. 1 Guyi Road, Yanguan Town, Haining City (in the Yanguan Tide Viewing Area). The Temple of the Sea is a "temple palace" that was first built in the eighth year of the reign of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty. It has a history of nearly 300 years.
During that period, royal-style buildings were not allowed to be built in the south, but the Tanah Lot Temple was a special exception. Due to severe tides in Haining, embankments and farmland were often washed away. Important ministers and governors were dispatched here to repair the pond. During this period, they also ordered and allocated funds to build this sea temple. It is reported that the construction of this temple dedicated to the God of Zhejiang Sea cost 100,000 silver
Haining Temple of the Sea is a temple closely related to the Qing Dynasty. It is also a building built in the palace style of the Qing Dynasty. However, most of the buildings here were destroyed by war during the Xianfeng period. By the 11th year of Guangxu After reconstruction, when you walk into the Tanah Lot Temple, you can see the model of the Tanah Lot Temple. It was very large and covered an area of ??40 acres.
The ancient monuments of the Tanah Lot Temple today mainly consist of white marble. The stone square, stone lions, Qingcheng Bridge, Yimen, main hall and imperial stele pavilion, and other buildings were all rebuilt in the later period, but among them, you can still see the magnanimity of this temple built under the royal supervision. This kind of temple with a royal atmosphere is very rare in Zhejiang. It is probably the only one. In 2001, it was listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit.
Poseidon Noodles has nine courtyards and buildings. They are all in the Qing Dynasty palace style, which is very rare in the Jiangnan area. However, very few people know about this place, and there are very few tourists here. When we went there, except for our group, basically no one saw it. As for other tourists, there are also very few visitors to Jinyong Academy, which is not far away.
The most majestic building in the entire Tanah Lot Temple is undoubtedly the main hall. If you have been to the Forbidden City in Beijing before, you will find this. The palace is very similar to the Hall of Supreme Harmony in the Forbidden City. This palace was built in the style of the Hall of Supreme Harmony in the Jinluan Hall. It is a palace building with double eaves and a hilltop, so it is known as the "Yinluan Hall" and the "Jiangnan Forbidden City". "The reputation of the temple can be seen from the fact that the Qing Dynasty spent huge sums of money to build this temple.
The entire temple is more than 20 meters high, and the columns, steps and stones in the building corridor The railings are all carved from white marble, with exquisite patterns of auspicious clouds, flowing water, flowers and birds, dragons and tigers carved on them. It cost 100,000 silver taels at that time, so it can be seen that they are indeed made of real materials. A palace like this uses white marble as a building material. There is absolutely no second one in Zhejiang. It is breathtaking.
In the main hall hangs a plaque with four golden characters inscribed "Chenglan Guarantee", which was personally given by Emperor Qianlong in the 27th year of his reign. Qianlong visited the south of the Yangtze River four times and stayed here. The inscription on this plaque means that he hopes to clear up the turbid water of the Qiantang River.
The "God of Zhejiang Sea" is now dedicated to the main hall. At that time, King Wusu Qian and Wu Zixu were worshiped here, and now they are located on the left and right sides of the God of Zhehai.
Through the main hall, you can see an octagonal double eaves and spire style building, which is the imperial monument. Pavilion, the Imperial Stele in the Imperial Stele Pavilion is about 5 meters high and made of white marble. The positive side of the Imperial Stele is engraved with Emperor Yongzheng's "Thai Temple Stele", and the negative side is engraved with Emperor Qianlong's "Reading the Sea Pond".
