What is the origin of the word "Fu"?
The earliest record of posting the word "Fu" in the New Year is that Wu, a native of Qiantang (now Hangzhou) in the Song Dynasty, wrote in "Liang Lumeng": Sticking a Spring Card to worship the ancestors. The so-called "spring card" is to write the word "Fu" on red paper and stick it in front of the gate. It can be seen that the custom of pasting the word "Fu" began at least in the Southern Song Dynasty. Today, the word "fu" is interpreted as "happiness", but in the past it meant blessing and good luck.

The legendary story of blessing words:
There is an old legend about the origin of the word "Fu". Legend has it that during the Western Zhou Dynasty, when Jiang Ziya (), the founding monarch of Qi, worshipped God, his wife Ji Shi () also came to pray for God. Jiang Ziya was very unhappy. How could he seal off his family first? And this Jishi was born too poor and loved the rich, so he angrily named her a "poor god" and told her that she could not get a family with the word "blessing".
The poor god was on New Year's Eve when he was sealed. When people learned about this, they wrote the word "Fu" on the doors and windows to show that they would drive away the "poor god". Since then, posting the word "Fu" has become a folk custom during the Chinese New Year, which has continued to this day. Since then, the word "Fu" has been reversed, and the homonym of "Xia" is "Fu is here"
