Where to go on the weekend? How about Quanzhou?
Quanzhou is only a two-hour drive from Fuzhou, and it only takes one hour after the train opens. However, it shows different characteristics in terms of eating habits and cultural features, making it very suitable for weekend travel. Looking for Quanzhou’s ancient breakfast flavor
After arriving at the hotel and taking a short rest, we started looking for the legendary “ancient breakfast flavor”!
"Zhongshan Beef Snacks", No. 436, Zhongshan South Road - Oyster Omelette, Beef Soup - 15 yuan
An old shop that has been operating for three generations and is owned by many Quanzhou veterans. Choice ~ Because I had to continue fighting, I only ordered oyster omelette and beef soup. I love the oyster omelette, it’s the best I’ve ever had! The portion is very generous, the ratio of oysters to eggs is just right, and even the green onions can be eaten in big bites~ However, the beef soup is not recommended, it is a bit heavy for me, the beef is coated with too much flour, and it tastes weird. of. "Yuanfang Xiao Long Bao", No. 381, Zhongshan South Road - Xiao Long Bao 8 yuan
After eating the oyster pancake and walking a few steps, you will arrive at Yuan Fang Xiao Long Bao. You can dine in or take away, and the meals are also full~ Although I was half full, in order to be a qualified pathfinder, I still ordered the signature Xiaolongbao~ There won’t be a lot of meat, but there will be no “skin and flesh separation”, which is still good Quite rare. There are many Xiao Long Bao. When you take a bite, the meat rolls out and only the skin is left. That’s not the case with the ones in this store. When dipped in garlic chili sauce, it’s great!
"Bingzhengtang Shihua Paste" at No. 1-3 Tianhou Temple, South Road, Zhongshan - Siguo Soup 14 yuan
Shihua paste is made by boiling stone flower grass and cooling it before solidifying. It's a bit like white grass jelly~ When you come to the store, don't order Shihua paste, order Siguo soup, which is Shihua paste plus three other ingredients. Ah Xiu added watermelon, pineapple, and red beans. I ordered taro, roasted grass jelly, and salty pudding. Each has its own style~ It seems that adding fruits will make it more refreshing. It all depends on your preference. It’s perfect to have a bowl of refreshing four-fruit soup when the weather is hot!
"Awen Noodle Paste" at the intersection of Xinmen Street and Xinhua South Road - Noodle Paste 30 yuan
It is perfect to use noodle paste as breakfast, at Ah Guo Tsai on Watergate Street The noodles are too far away from the B&B, so we were hungry so we chose the Awen noodles which are not too far away. You can choose the ingredients of noodle batter by yourself, there are many kinds. When in Fujian, you must choose seafood. A whole fresh squid is added to the noodle batter and paired with freshly fried large fried dough sticks. The feeling of happiness brought by a full stomach will arise spontaneously.
"Douhua Mama", No. 30 West Street - Comprehensive soybean flower NT$13
"Aunt Hou Meat Zongzi", No. 45 East Street - Signature scallop meat rice dumplings and shrimp soup NT$24
p>
Grandma Hou’s meat rice dumplings are so delicious that I’ll cry! Like this taste very much. In addition to the large portion of the rice dumplings themselves, there are also many ingredients. The sauce is like a mixture of peanut butter and sand tea sauce. When paired together, it is very rich! My friends don’t like the feeling of this thick sauce, but I really like it and think this is the number one snack in this time! I also ordered a shrimp soup, so choose carefully. The shrimps are frozen and coated with a lot of starch. I don’t like the taste.
Apo Hou’s meat rice dumplings can be said to be a time-honored brand. Whenever you come to Quanzhou, you have to try it. The newly renovated store also feels very good. Compared with some old stores, I still prefer such a store with "old wine in a new pot". At least it gives people a clean and hygienic feeling, and most importantly, the taste is just as good. Yes!
After eating the meat rice dumplings and shrimp soup, I am still a little tired. It is the right time to eat it with a portion of mixed bean curd packaged by Douhua Mama! It tastes good, and the tofu pudding is very tender, just the right amount to relieve tiredness! Recommended special attractions
Changpu Fishing Village has more than just houses made of oyster shells
Changpu Fishing Village is an ancient village. This time I went to look for the "Oyster Shell House", which is the legendary A house made of oyster shells~ However, this adventure is not easy.
Key point: If you take a taxi to Linhai Primary School, you can see the "Xiaopu" stone. When you get there, ask for directions and it will be easy to find.
Oyster Shell House has a history of more than 400 years since its formation, development and decline in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. The oyster shell building has a strong folk flavor, rich aesthetics, and technological knowledge; it is a product of Quanzhou’s foreign trade in ancient times and witnesses the glorious history of Quanzhou’s “Maritime Silk Road.” Moreover, the oyster shell house does not accumulate rainwater, is warm in winter and cool in summer, and has good sound insulation effect, making it suitable for living in a humid climate near the sea. Secondly, the walls of the oyster shell house are very strong and are known as "thousand-year-old bricks and ten-thousand-year-old oysters". .
Nowadays, few families in the village live in oyster shell houses, and more of them are still preserved as historical sites. However, the construction waste and garbage randomly discarded around the house still make us feel its neglected fate.
Changpu Village also has a major feature—Changpu girls, young and old, all wear wreaths on their heads, which is very beautiful. Near the Oyster Shell House, there is a small shop that rents the costumes of the Cunpu women. Friends who like it can also experience the unique flower garland~
Intangible Cultural Heritage String Puppet Show
Because I thought this trip would give me a special experience, I wanted to go deeper and experience the culture of Quanzhou. Nanyin and puppet show in Quanzhou are both famous intangible cultural heritage. Due to time constraints, we were not able to hear the Nanyin live, but the "puppet show" was so amazing that we felt that the trip was worthwhile.
Follow the public account: Quanzhou Puppet Troupe to learn about the latest performance arrangements.
I went to the theater's new building, whose address is: Quanzhou Puppet Theater, No. 355 Quanshan Road, Fengze District, Quanzhou City.
Every weekend (sometimes on Fridays and Saturdays, sometimes on Saturdays and Sundays) at 7:30 pm, the Quanzhou Puppet Troupe will hold a public welfare low-ticket show in the new theater The performance is priced at only 20 yuan per seat. No reservations are accepted, tickets can only be purchased on site. I missed the first show on Saturday night because I was late. I was worried about not having a seat, but when I got there, there was still a seat in the first row.
The second play is "The Little Novice Comes Down the Mountain". The first time the young novice went down the mountain, he encountered heavy rain and fell several times. He still had to go down the mountain to pray for alms. Every movement of the puppet is very smooth, and you don't feel the stiffness of the puppet at all. The little novice monk had to run to avoid the rain because he was in a hurry, and the performers also had to run along with him.
In addition to being amazed by the superb skills of the performers, what moved me even more was their concentration during the performance and their deep love that could be seen in their expressions. If I didn't really like puppet shows, my face wouldn't show that kind of pride unconsciously. I am very shocked. Just by devoting yourself wholeheartedly to the cause you love, you can make people around you feel this quiet power.
The third play "Ruolan's Journey" tells the story of Ruolan's long journey to find her husband. This should be a fragment of a complete play. Because it is a narrative story, the plot cannot be felt particularly well in the fragment. But the performance of the puppet show is still nothing to say.
The fourth play "Zhong Kui is Drunk" was my favorite play that night! Zhong Kui came to the underworld to slay demons, but found that there were too many ghosts in the world, which he could not handle with his own strength. He was depressed and drank to relieve his sorrow. I was very lucky to find the complete video recording with subtitles!
Watching the scene was much more shocking than the photos and videos. When Zhong Kui was drinking from a flask, the water dripped into his mouth without missing a beat, and his mouth was still opening and closing! After that, he fell asleep drunk, still snoring rhythmically. When the lights dimmed and we all thought it was over, Zhong Kui woke up from his dream, waved the demon-slaying sword, and once again uttered the heroic words of slaying all the demons in the world. .
The last play is "Lantern Festival Music", which tells the story of various strange people and strange things at the Lantern Festival. I found a video from last year. Some of the puppets had different appearances, but the content was the same~ The last part was a lion dance performance, which made up for the regret that we didn't see the first show "Lion Dance".
The performance lasted for more than an hour, and there was not a single moment where I could lose my concentration~ It took me such a long time to describe the experience of watching the puppet show, because it really shocked me deeply, and I felt that it was so A group of people insisting on one thing is rare and worthy of respect. The ticket price of 20 yuan is really worth it! I also sincerely recommend that when you go to Quanzhou, you can go and see this ancient and timeless puppet show~
Kaiyuan Temple
The famous Kaiyuan Temple in Quanzhou Just hidden in the street market. Although it is not a special festival, there are still many people visiting and offering incense. The Kaiyuan Twin Towers were once landmark buildings in Quanzhou. Unfortunately, it happened to be under renovation when I went there, so I could only watch it from a distance.
Kaiyuan Post Office is also a different scenery in Kaiyuan Temple.
My friend and I each picked a mailbox and mailed the words we wanted to say to each other along with our blessings~
While walking towards the bell tower, we saw a small sign at the entrance of the alley, reminding us There is a cultural and creative store in the alley, so I went to check it out without being in a hurry.
The name of the cultural and creative store is "Dashitang". After entering the door, there is a whole wall of postcards ~ they are more beautiful than what we saw at Kaiyuan Post Office and Yuanhetang Post Office. The draft was very cool, so we sat in the courtyard and wrote postcards to our friends for more than an hour~
Thanks for this kind of place that we encountered unexpectedly during our travels, which made every trip unique. Same, a place with deep memories.
There are still many such ancient shops in Quanzhou. The absence of colorful neon lights gives the barbers a sense of solemnity like a craftsman. If you search patiently, you will definitely be able to discover the hidden secrets of this city~
One of the oldest mosques in China
For the last stop of the journey, Arab Muslims chose to visit China? The oldest existing Islamic temple - Qingjing Mosque. Quanzhou Port was an important stop on the Maritime Silk Road. At that time, many Arabs entered China for trade. The booming Silk Road trade not only made Quanzhou Port as famous as Alexandria Port at that time, but also made Quanzhou one of the earliest areas where Islam was introduced into China. Historically, Quanzhou once had seven mosques, and Qingjing Mosque was one of them.
Although Qingjing Temple can be viewed by tourists, the chapel still has very strict rules and cannot be entered at will. Compared with other temples, Qingjing Temple is really quiet, as if the body and mind have calmed down.
This trip is almost over here! Quanzhou is really one of the few places that still retains the character of the city. Compared with Xiamen?, Fuzhou has a more unique flavor. Even after a few years and traveling to different places at home and abroad, I still remember the search for flavor in the small town of Quanzhou and the excitement when watching the puppet show... I hope this city can also surprise you and discover more Your own secret city~
