At present, there are seven five-star hotels, and the competition in the hotel industry is becoming more and more fierce. Although there is no business crisis in Huada, in this case, the early withdrawal of the government can not only maintain the preservation and appreciation of state-owned assets, but also enter through private capital.

1August, 2005, Huaqiao Hotel, once one of the landmark buildings in Dongguan and the representative of Dongguan's image as a foreign-related reception hotel, was the first four-star hotel that "Old Dongguan" was proud of. Previously, the entertainment facilities and western restaurant of Overseas Chinese Hotel had been closed. The staff of the Overseas Chinese Hotel said that although the news of the hotel closing had been reported before, the room closing was too sudden, and it was also suggested that passengers who had booked rooms should check out.

On June 30th, 2005, Dongfang Hotel, the only revolving restaurant in Dongguan, closed down. In just half a month, two established hotels in Guancheng District closed down one after another. There were two less "generals" in the once prosperous canal business circle, which made the "old Dongguan people" cry.
