A fallen arhat grabbed his right hand and threatened to pull him up. The old man pursed his lips and wrinkles appeared.
Another man who had gone ashore, barefoot, took out his shoes and put them on, but looked up at the stone wall, picking his nose with one finger and smiling proudly. According to the general saying: Lohan is the name of the enlightened person in Buddhism, and there is a saying among the eminent monks that the god monk flies with a stick and crosses the water with a wooden cup.
It is strange that these arhats should be so sad about the river. I guess the painter's original intention is that Buddha's manners and words are no different from those of ordinary people, but people who study Buddhism in the world just want to seek something mysterious, special and surprising, so is this painting to warn people? It used to be said that the portrait of Lv Dongbin hidden in Taiqing Building is as solemn as Confucius and Laozi, and it is different from the kind of elegant dust painted by other painters. This should be the original intention.
