Hotel design is a social science, which is very important to the construction and operation cost, investment and operation success of hotels. There are many problems in hotel design because some investors and designers don't pay attention to and understand the planning and design of the hotel. Generally speaking, the typical manifestations of these problems can be divided into ten categories:

1. Before designing a hotel from scratch, we must first complete market research, hotel site selection, hotel positioning, hotel scale and grade determination and project feasibility analysis. Some investors did not seriously do the preliminary work of the overall design and directly started the hotel design work. Some investors decided to invest in a new hotel based on their perceptual knowledge of visiting several hotels, and the design unit did not intervene in the initial stage of hotel preparation.

2. Some hotels outside the Golden Corner are beautiful in appearance, but their internal functional planning, decoration and decorative design are in a mess, with unprofessional design, poor practicality and lack of artistry. After the hotel starts to operate, it will start to knock and knock, and it will continue to form decoration expenses or "secondary investment" that should not be spent. Some hotels don't even have a chance to make up for the original design defects (such as mismatch), which is a lifelong regret. A very important reason is that designers do not understand the needs of hotel management and the functions of various facilities, and design from the perspective of pure architectural art, rather than from the unique attributes of hotels and consumer demand. Some design drawings are too rash and simple, such as paying little attention to the design of hotel rooms, only taking it as a simple combination of standard legends, and there is no further detailed supporting design for room furniture.

3. The concept of stealing. Due to the huge investment in hotel projects, the national policy restricts the construction of buildings and halls from a macro perspective. Therefore, some state-owned enterprises, government departments, institutions and other investors set up projects in the name of training centers, activity centers, reception centers and comprehensive services, and then transform them into hotels after completion. Such hotels are often more like hotels than hotels. Many building structures, facilities and equipment, functional layout, etc. Can not meet the needs of hotel professional management, congenital deficiency, the day after tomorrow can not be changed.

4. The overall imitation design of the new hotel is not adapted to local conditions, nor is it linked to meeting the needs of hotel management and consumers. It simply imitates a hotel or comprehensively imitates many hotels, and even inherits some mistakes in the original design (such as TV cabinets, front desk reception platforms, etc.). ), resulting in the duplication of only one hotel, the hotel's appearance design and functional design are the same, there is no progress and innovation.

5. Cultural desert hotels can create multiple cultures for customers: architectural culture, service culture, management culture and product culture. However, the design of many new hotels lacks theme, pursues fashion excessively, and is pieced together by a lot of money, new products, new materials and new technologies. The whole design has no soul, no characteristics, and even the local decoration is very uncoordinated with the overall atmosphere of the hotel. Most hotel supplies are designed by suppliers or purchased directly from the market without professional system design, so they are mostly integrated products. Full-page products can meet the basic functions of products, but they cannot form a unique product culture. Many designs are westernized and do not reflect our traditional culture and local culture well.

6. Individual combat As far as the hotel design itself is concerned, its division of labor is extremely fine. In developed countries, at least a dozen experts and professional technicians in planning, municipal administration, finance, market, equipment, fire protection, lighting, acoustics, interior architecture, decoration and art participated in the design, and even management consultants, catering experts and insurance companies participated. Building a hotel involves tens of thousands of supplies, equipment and materials, each of which needs to be selected and handled by proficient experts. In fact, the design of newly-built hotels in China is mostly carried out by a design unit, and in most cases it is often led by a designer, with 1-2 novices as assistants. Because the design strength is thin, the design drawings are often full of loopholes, and it is difficult to produce fine designs.

7. Lack of overall hotel design, including functional layout and zoning design, overall planning and design, architectural design, indoor and outdoor landscape and garden design, interior decoration design, electromechanical and piping system design, sign system (vi) design, traffic organization design, management and customer service streamline design, etc. China is often designed by several design units and then constructed by several construction units. These designs and constructions have not been systematically coordinated, and in most cases, they were approved and implemented by the construction headquarters after a simple review.
