You can't stay in a hotel without an ID card.

Valid certificate of the passenger staying in the hotel:

I. Citizens of China

People's Republic of China (PRC) household registration book, resident identity card, temporary resident identity card (within the validity period), passport, seaman's card, people's Republic of China travel permit to and from Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Region on business;

Officer's card, police officer's card, civilian cadre's card, soldier's card, student's card and seaman's card issued by China People's Liberation Army and Chinese People's Armed Police Force;

Hong Kong and Macao residents travel to and from the Mainland; Travel Permit for mainland travel permit for taiwan residents and People's Republic of China.

Second, foreigners.
