A wingless crawling insect with a pointed butt and a large abdomen. The size of an ant acts alone. It is so elusive that it is swollen, painful and itchy after being stung.

It is called red imported fire ant and distributed in Taiwan Province province, Hongkong, Guangdong and Macau. It is an invasive species that recently entered China, and it is also one of the most destructive invasive species listed by IUCN.

Solenopsis invicta worker ants have various shapes, with a body length of 2.4-6mm(Hedges 1998), four teeth on the upper jaw, tentacles 10, a red to brown body and a black handle. The ant nest protrudes outward in a mound shape, and its diameter is generally less than 46 cm. When the anthill is destroyed, the invading red imported fire ants will be extremely angry. It can attack intruders with the tail thorn in the back abdomen, and blisters usually appear the next day after being stung. The venom discharged from its tail sting can cause allergic reactions and even lead to human death.
