Five freshwater lakes: Poyang Lake, Dongting Lake, Taihu Lake, Hongze Lake and Chaohu Lake.

Poyang Lake, the largest freshwater lake in China. Located in the north of Jiangxi Province, 50 kilometers northeast of Nanchang City. Poyang Lake receives water from five rivers: Jiangxi, Fuzhou, Guangxi, Rao and Xiushan, and is connected with the Yangtze River, the largest river in China. At normal water level, Poyang Lake covers an area of 39 14 square kilometers and has a volume of 30 billion cubic meters. Its annual inflow into the Yangtze River exceeds the sum of the Yellow River, Huaihe River and Haihe River. There are about 200,000 hectares in Jiujiang, Poyang Lake, and there are six counties (districts) including Duchang, Hukou, Xing Zi, Yongxiu, De 'an and Lushan. It is a pearl in northern Jiangxi.

Dongting Lake, called Yunmengze in ancient times, is the second largest freshwater lake in China. It spans Hunan and Hubei provinces, connects the Yangtze River in the north and the four waters of Hunan, Guizhou, Yuan and Tan in the south, and is known as the "Dongting Lake with 800 Li". Dongting Lake means immortal abode of fairies, so its scenery is beautiful and charming. Dongting Lake is vast and circuitous, with abrupt mountains. Its biggest feature is that there is a lake outside the lake, with mountains, small fishing sails, Ye Qingqing River, water and sky, and seagulls flying. Spring and autumn are different in four seasons, and they change a thousand times a day. Among the eight scenic spots in Xiaoxiang described by the ancients, the autumn moon in Dongting Lake, the return from a long voyage, the setting sun in the fishing village and the dusk snow in the river are all portraiture of East Dongting Lake now.

Taihu Lake, called Zhenze in ancient times, is also called the Five Lakes. It is the third largest freshwater lake in China, with a surface area of more than 2,000 square kilometers, 48 islands and 72 peaks. Here, mountains and rivers are interdependent, with rich levels, forming a natural picture of "Qingshan Lake outside the mountain, Dai Feng Congdong Spring". While enjoying the beautiful scenery of Taihu Lake, you can also visit the famous mountains and gardens of Jiangcai and explore history.

Hongze Lake is located in the west of Hongze County, Jiangsu Province, and developed on the alluvial plain in the middle reaches of Huaihe River. It used to be a depression with poor drainage, but later the accumulated water became many small lakes. During the Qin and Han Dynasties in China, they were called "Fuling" lakes. Among them, Hongze Lake is the largest, covering an area of 2,069 square kilometers, and it is the fourth largest freshwater lake among the five largest freshwater lakes in China.

Chaohu Lake, called Jiaohu Lake in ancient times, is located between Jianghuai and is one of the five largest freshwater lakes in China.
