Tozer's Travel Notes in the Desert Oasis

Tozer is the main tourist center of the Sahara, and palm trees in the forest have always fascinated me. Finally. Walking in the streets of Tozer in the morning, listening to the sound of hooves and ringing bells mixed with the dense air before sunrise, is a completely quiet scene.

Tozer is actually geographically closer to Algeria. This is a desert oasis with more than 1000 hectares of date palm forest. Seen from a distance, Tozer is like a jasper in the desert. It is said that in the past tourist season, tourists from all over the world often set up tents on sand slopes to enjoy the unique customs of desert oases.

However, we seem to be the only guests in Tozer Golden Jasmine Hotel. Mohammed, a local tour guide, said that before 20 1 1 "revolution", the tourism here was very prosperous, and European tourists liked to visit the Sahara desert from here and then return from here, so it was often hard to find a hotel room. Nowadays, with the economic downturn, the bardo Museum has been attacked by terrorists, and the hotels in scenic spots are even more crowded.

It was very hot in the desert, so we started at 7 o'clock in the morning. It's still a little cold to put on your coat in the morning. Muhammad even put on his coat and looked at the palm dancing in the hotel. He can't imagine how hot it will be in the future.

Starting from Tozer, along the road leading to the Tunisia-Algerian border, you can see three oases: Chebika, Tamer Za and Medus. Turn on your mobile phone, and you can already receive the signal from Telecom Algeria.

The traffic on the road is covered with clouds of grass with bare sand dunes in the middle. The dromedary leisurely nibbled at the grass. There are no sheep and no one around. Our car is the only car within dozens of kilometers of Fiona Fang, Fiona Fang. Every night, the wind blows away the traces of vehicles, leaving only sand dunes and shallow sand lines with changing positions, tempting people to leave traces in this desolate place.

We can't see the road ahead, and we don't know how the driver opened the road according to his experience in this vast desert. Or, people who have grown up in the desert for a long time can easily identify their directions without any special navigation tools?

On the map, Midas' name is actually Ain El Kama. 1969 rainstorm caused floods and washed away the Roman villages here. What you can see now is bare orange-red land and stones, like waves. The films The English Patient and Indiana Jones were both shot here. The ancient Romans also attached great importance to this strategic location. It is said that they once placed mirrors on the mountains to inform the residents of the city of the danger by reflecting light.

The temperature inside the car soared rapidly. In this environment, seeing palm trees and bougainvillea certainly fascinates me. With water, Chebika at the foot of Djebel el Negueb Mountain becomes the Eden in the desert.

Cheka is sunny, so it was named Qasr el-Shams, which means Sun Castle in Arabic. It used to be a Roman village and later became a refuge for Berbers. However, in 1969, the rainstorm that lasted for nearly a month caused floods and destroyed the village, and the residents here had to move to other places.

Walking in Chebika Canyon, the cool breeze blows gently, the spring water is clear, frogs swim around happily, and songs resound through the valley. During the rainy season from September to May of the following year, the amount of water in the small waterfall deep in the canyon became larger, and many tourists still swam here.

I met a Berber boy on the road. He accompanied us warmly because he found it "interesting". He said that he wanted to marry a European and go to Europe.

While climbing the mountain, we also met two Algerians who deliberately crossed the border to travel. They warmly invited us to Algeria because "there are many China people there".

On both sides of the road, the bare land is mottled with white saline-alkali, and hairy camel grass grows on the hard ground. Further on, nothing grows, the earth shines, and it blends with the distant mountains and the high sky. Only our Xiangqian Che is running, and the whistling wind is whistling in our ears.

Saline-alkali land explains why the water we receive from the tap of the hotel is salty, and why the whole bottle of shampoo can't foam when we wash our hair. The lakes left in ancient times dried up and the groundwater soared, leaving such white crystals. Stop and take a closer look. In some places, there are still lakes that have not dried up, among which the cherry color shines brightly. Be careful, like a lake in winter. Some places here look like the ground. In fact, there is a wet lake below, which may sink if you are not careful.

I was amazed and impressed by the ancient Roman village Chebica destroyed by the flood, the desert falconer wearing colorful headscarves and the natural carved desert rose stone. "I'm glad you came" is enough.
