In 1950, Teacher Tan Kah Kee built a dike at Xia Zhang Beach and reclaimed the outer, middle and inner pools. The outside of the pool is commonly known as "Dragon Boat Pool", which is now the Jimei Dragon Boat Pool. There are seven pavilions with different styles beside the pool: Nanhui, Geng, Zuo, You, Feng and Yuan. During the Dragon Boat Festival, dragon boat races are held here in full swing.
