Historical evolution of Xuanhan Middle School in Sichuan Province
Xuanhan Middle School in Sichuan Province has a long cultural history. It has a development history of more than 400 years.
Confucianism was established in Dongxiang during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty.
In the 11th year of Chenghua reign of Emperor Xianzong of the Ming Dynasty (i.e. 1476 AD), Wu Xin, the magistrate of Dongxiang County, moved to Mingyueba in Jiangbei to study.
During the Wanli period of Emperor Shenzong of the Ming Dynasty (i.e. AD 1573~), Tao Zhixiao, the magistrate of Dongxiang County, modified Confucianism in Dongcheng (now the site of the Party School), and built Lailu Pavilion in front of the Confucian school (the date of its foundation laying, Named after Wenlu Laiyi).
In the 29th year of Daoguang reign of Emperor Xuanzong of the Qing Dynasty (i.e. 1849 AD), Tao Hongyuan, the magistrate of Dongxiang County, rebuilt the academy and named it "Lailu Academy" because Lailu Pavilion was built on the site.
In the 4th year of the Republic of China (1915 AD), "Dongxiang" was renamed "Xuanhan"; the following year (1916 AD), county governor Jing Changyun renovated the old building of Lailu Academy into a Western-style building As a classroom, it was named "Xuanhan County Middle School" (it was shared with the county higher primary school), and Jing Changyun served as the principal concurrently. The courses offered are Japanese-style, including Chinese, English, history, geography, arithmetic, style (that is, physics, chemistry, animals, plants and minerals), drawing, handicrafts, and gymnastics.
In February 1917, 81 students were enrolled, divided into two classes, with a 4-year academic system (the new academic system was implemented in 1925 and started as a 3-year system).
In 1918, the middle school was separated from the county high school (the high school was located at the current Xuandong District campus).
In 1919, the county higher primary school moved to the west of the county.
In 1932, it began to recruit girls (only 6-7 are admitted each year, and girls go to different schools). It has four classrooms, eight or nine dormitories and kitchens for teachers and students, and more than 130 students in school.
In 1933, 18 classes were enrolled and the name was changed to "Xuanhan County Junior High School".
In the winter of 1933, on the eve of the Fourth Red Army's arrival to declare Han Dynasty, the students dispersed and the school was closed. So far, 13 classes have graduated, totaling 420 people.
In the spring of 1937, enrollment was resumed and it was attached to the Simple Rural Normal School. One junior high school class was admitted every year and became the attached junior high school.
In 1938, the Xuanhan Administrative Conference decided to build a new Xuanhan County Middle School building at the address of the county high school in the west of the county.
In 1940, in order to avoid Japanese air raids, it moved to Qingxichang Hongwen School along with the Simple Rural Normal School.
In 1942, the new school building was completed.
In the autumn of 1943, the branch branch of Jian Normal School was restored as "Xuanhan County Junior High School" and moved to the new school building outside the west gate of the county (now the old campus of Xuanzhong), with more than 500 students at the school.
In the spring of 1946, two classes of high school students were recruited, and the name was changed to "Xuanhan County Middle School". Hou Tingbin (Bagong) wrote the school name "Xuanhan County Middle School", and the school was approved by the provincial education department. Approved by the Ministry of Education as a complete secondary school.
In 1949, the County Council decided to double the enrollment of new students, bringing the number of students on campus to more than 1,000.
In 1950, the recruitment of high school students was stopped. In the same year, it merged with Girls' Middle School and Nanba Middle School to form Xuanhan County Junior High School, with Nanba Middle School as a branch; in the autumn of 1953, it was renamed "Xuanhan County No. 1 Junior High School".
In 1956, the school established a separate party branch and established a teaching union.
In the autumn of 1958, high school enrollment was resumed and renamed "Xuanhan County Middle School", which was listed as a key middle school in Daxian County.
In 1960, it was rated as an advanced collective, and principal Pang Weilie attended the National Conference of Cultural and Educational Heroes.
In 1961, the first high school graduates after liberation were trained. Fu Birong and Mou Jinchang were both admitted to Peking University;
In May 1966, the "Cultural Revolution" began, and the school was Forced suspension of classes. During the turmoil, the principal of the school, Pang Weilie, was tortured to death.
In November 1970, a few teachers were assigned to the "Xuanhan May 7th Normal School" in Puguang, and the rest were sent to commune primary schools in the county.
In March 1971, the school was restored; in April, the school established a revolutionary committee and restored the party branch.
In 1975, the school opened a branch in Ranjiagou, Sanhe Commune. Teachers and students took turns working and attending classes at the branch until the college entrance examination system was restored in 1977.
In 1978, he achieved excellent results in the college entrance examination and was awarded by the Daxian Regional Bureau of Culture and Education.
In April 2000, it became a key middle school in Sichuan Province and was named "Sichuan Xuanhan Middle School".
In 2002, it was evaluated and accepted as "Sichuan Province Demonstration High School".
In 2003, it merged with the original Northwest Middle School and acquired 220 acres of land to build a new campus (i.e. West District).
In August 2005, the west campus of Xuanhan Middle School was completed. In September, the first and second grades of high school moved into the new campus and officially started classes.
In February 2006, it was accepted as "Sichuan Province National Demonstration Ordinary High School".
On December 23, 2013, after review by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education, Sichuan Xuanhan Middle School was officially approved to become a first-level demonstration general high school in Sichuan Province.
