Is it right that Lean Startup is plan-oriented?

Lean Startup is wrong to be plan-oriented.

"The Lean Startup" was written by American writer Eric Rice. The book describes some concepts about entrepreneurship, innovation and products. The description of its content has risen to a theoretical level, making it more scientific and systematic. There are two important contents in the book, value hypothesis and minimum feasible product.

Lean startup originated from the Internet industry and is a new model of software development. But the "customer verification" idea behind it is applied in a large number of non-IT fields. Generally speaking, Lean Startup is suitable for areas where customer needs change rapidly but development is not difficult, such as software, film and television, financial services and other fields.

In China, in addition to Internet companies, "Tonight's Hotel Specials" in the hotel management field are developed using this small-step trial-and-error approach. Some traditional companies, such as China CITIC Bank Credit Card Center, use Lean Entrepreneurship to develop credit cards. Innovation in products and customer services, and solidifying the three magic weapons into the project management mechanism.

Since Lean Startup requires frequent customer verification, it is not suitable for some jobs where customer verification costs are high or technical implementation is difficult. For example, in large-scale events, the service customers are all athletes, but it is difficult to obtain frequent feedback from them.

The origin of Lean Startup:

Lean Startup was first proposed by Silicon Valley entrepreneur Eric Ries in his book "Lean Startup" in August 2012. But its core idea was greatly influenced by the "customer development" method in the "Four-Step Entrepreneurship Method" by Steve Garry Blank, another Silicon Valley entrepreneurship expert. The latter also provided many wonderful pointers and cases for lean entrepreneurship.

After learning about Lean Startup, many IT practitioners believe that its core concepts can be traced back to agile development management in the software industry. For example, "minimum available products" and "prototype modeling" are very similar. They both pursue rapid version iterations, maintain contact with customers at all times and obtain feedback, etc. Lean startup can be understood as a continuation of the agile development model.
