Do I need a visa for the country where I am transiting?

Some countries need it, and some don’t. The following countries require transit visas:

1. The United States

Transit visas are required when transiting in the United States! However, the application procedures and fees for transit visas and tourist visas are the same, and most tourist visas currently issued by the United States are multiple-entry visas valid for ten years, so it is better to apply for a tourist visa (type B).

If you only want to apply for a transit visa to the United States, Chinese travelers must apply for a Type C transit visa in advance with a valid visa for the destination (except for visa-free or visa-on-arrival in the destination country), air ticket and itinerary, etc. Follow the visa application process to fill out the form, pay the US$160 application fee and make an appointment for an interview.

If you are transiting in Japan, you can do this if you hold a connecting ticket and your luggage will be checked directly to the final destination, or if you do not hold a connecting ticket but have no checked baggage. Choose not to leave the international transit area when connecting in Japan. Travelers do not need to enter the country and therefore do not need a visa.

If the flight interval is long and requires an overnight stay, and the airport needs to be closed late at night and transit passengers are prohibited from staying overnight in the terminal, the traveler must enter Japan even if he holds a connecting ticket. This means that you must apply for an entry/transit visa.

Among Japan's various ports of entry, except for Haneda Airport and Kansai Airport, which are open 24 hours a day, popular airports such as Narita Airport, Chubu Airport, Fukuoka Airport, and Naha Airport will be closed late at night.

Although Japan officially opens Shore Pass to travelers in transit, there are great variables in Shore Pass applications, and many travelers' applications have been rejected. Therefore, it is recommended that you apply for a tourist visa or transit visa in China in advance.

Extended information:

Note:

When transferring in the UK, Canada, Australia, the United States, and New Zealand, this country is required whether you leave the airport or not. For visas, this is their regulation. Even if you do not leave the airport, you still need to go through border inspection and customs before picking up your luggage. Otherwise, you will not be able to transfer. Therefore, when transferring in these countries, prepare the tourist visa of that country in advance/ A transit visa is very necessary.

If you are transiting in other countries and do not leave the airport, usually, if you do not leave the airport, you do not need a visa, but please note: when I say not leaving the airport, I mean that you do not leave the airport, go to the city, and It’s not that you don’t have to leave the terminal. Different terminals are usually connected and you can walk back and forth.

If you leave the airport, you usually need a visa from the country where you are transiting. There are two types of visas: transit visa and tourist visa. If you only transit once in your home country, a transit visa is sufficient. Transit visa is relatively different from tourist visa. , the application difficulty will be reduced, less information will be required, and the stay time will be shorter than that of a tourist visa.

For example: Malaysia’s transit visa usually only has 120 hours, while a tourist visa can stay for 30 days. And if you need to transfer two or more flights, such as flying from Beijing to Vancouver, Canada, then to Toronto, and finally connecting to the United States, it is recommended that you apply for a tourist visa.

Some countries do not require a visa from the transit country even if they leave the airport. For example, if you depart from China and transfer to the United States, if you are transiting in Singapore, you do not need a visa. You can directly show your U.S. visa to the border inspection and go to Air tickets to the United States will do.
