The Best Place to Watch Tide in Qiantang River, Hangzhou

This article will tell you how to watch the tide in Hangzhou and where to go from the perspective of watching the tide for the first time. For reference only ~

Qiantang River is the largest river in Zhejiang and the mother river of Hangzhou. In daily life, the river slowly flows eastward, gentle and honest like a girl from the south of the Yangtze River. Every year on August 18th of the lunar calendar, due to the influence of astronomy, meteorology, upstream water and riverbed topography, the spectacle of spring tide will be staged on Qiantang River. Moreover, it is specifically mentioned in a text "Watching the Tide" published by People's Education Publishing House in the fourth grade of primary school Chinese, so many parents will take their children to feel the tide in person.

Tips: Although the tide is more spectacular, the better, but the greater the risk. You must choose safe areas and lots to watch the tide, pay attention to warning signs, and don't climb over the fence to watch the tide in dangerous areas such as river beaches and T-pier gaps.

The best date to watch the tide: the best date to watch the tide every year is naturally August 18 and 19 of the lunar calendar. It must be super crowded these days. If you don't like crowds, you can also consider going to see the "Ghost King Tide" on July 18th of the lunar calendar.

Tide-watching in normal time: You can watch the tide from the first day to the fifth day and the fifteenth day to the twentieth day of the lunar month, so there are120th days in a year.

Accurate time of tidal observation: At present, there are several tidal time forecasting platforms in Zhejiang. Because the location of each hydrological station is different, the published tidal time is also different. In addition, the tide of Qiantang River is influenced by many factors, such as astronomy, meteorology, upstream water and riverbed topography. The tide may arrive early or late, so it is generally recommended that you look at the tide level 40-60 minutes in advance and wait for the high tide.

Tidal flood forecast: query portal 1 (within three days), query portal 2 and query portal 3.

Tidal height forecast: query the flood forecast and you will see the words "surge height". In order to facilitate tourists to watch the tide, Qiantang River is divided into five grades. The swell height is related to the observation height of tides. The higher, the better. The level ranges from level 1 to level 5 (the highest). The tide level is higher than 1.5 meters, which is the highest viewing level. 1.5 m to 1.2 m, which is level 4 and very ornamental. Between 0.8m- 1.2m, it belongs to the third grade of ornamental level and has good ornamental value. Further down, between 0.5 meters and 0.8 meters, it belongs to the second level. If it is less than 0.5m, it is 1 class.

Characteristics of tidal morphology: There are many kinds of tides in Qian Jiangchao, and the tides at different tidal observation points also have their own characteristics. There are mainly tidal forms such as first-line tide, foam tide, turning tide, cross tide, second-degree tide, two-way tide, ripple tide and fish scale tide.

Introduction of tidal observation points: (The following tidal observation points are all in Hangzhou, in no particular order)

There is no place to watch the tide. The tidal characteristics of each place are different, and the effect is also different. If you have time, you can watch it at every tidal point.

Meiren Mountain Dam (commonly known as "Meiren Dam")

Navigation address: directly search for "Beauty Dam", in Nanyang Street, Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou.

Ticket information: free of charge, no need to make an appointment in advance.

Tidal characteristics: tidal bore, first-line tidal bore and back tidal bore.

When the tidal bore does not meet groins and pantou in this reach, there will be a "first-line tide", and when it meets water-blocking structures such as the Meinvshan Dam, there will be a "resurgence", which will rise after many reflections and form a "tidal bore". Special attention should be paid to the safety of tidal observation in the upper and lower reaches of Meinvshan Dam, such as Pantou and Dingba.

Coral Sand Reservoir-Jiuxi Line 1

Address: Near Jiuxi Bus Station, Xihu District, Zhejiang Province, opposite Jiuxi Police Station.

Ticket information: free of charge, no need to make an appointment in advance.

Tidal characteristics: high tide and high tide.

There is an obvious bend in the reach, and the tidal bore passes through it, sometimes there is an undercurrent, and there is no obvious tidal head, which is not easy to detect. During the spring tide, the tidal head can be seen, but the tidal potential is gradually decreasing. Because there is a downstream dam at the exit of Jiuxi, the tidal bore is pushed by the subsequent tidal bore, and after crossing the downstream dam, it enters the coral sand sluice section, and the coral sand reservoir and the river bank form a bag, which is caught like a tidal wave. At the corner of the intersection of the dam, the tide "wow" collided with a loud noise, and the tide head went straight into the sky, and a water column rose.
